I never heard of it and it's not listed with Barnes and Noble.

(posting was for a book titled The Mearth War by Donaldson, Stephen and published by Holt Rinehart in 1977)
Based on the year of publication, I strongly suspect that this is The Illearth War, as listed by a less-than-knowledgeable seller.
That there would be a hither-to unknown 1977 book by SRD strains credulity. The number and general form of the vertical strokes in the letter M is similar enough to the word ILL that either there was an error of automated optical character recognition or a human misreading, compounded by a lack of proofreading or verification before posting the sales listing.
(this is for the sales site, not for Lorin's honest question)

they even listed it on ebay as the Mearth War. That's why I googled it and found it all over the web. Do I feel a little silly or what.................

Interesting...
I just looked, and one of the sites even seems to be aware that this book is part of a set which they call "The Cronicles Of Thomas Covenant The Unbliever"
The spelling speaks volumes!

Pun intended?
"It is not the literal past that rules us, save, possibly, in a biological sense. It is images of the past. Each new historical era mirrors itself in the picture and active mythology of its past or of a past borrowed from other cultures. It tests its sense of identity, of regress or new achievement against that past.”

Yes, absolutely. You can pretty much assume "pun intended" for any post of mine containing anything that could be construed as wordplay.
