Yes, it's my hometown, spent the first 21 years of my life there... a little borough in the South Hills called Mt. Oliver, about 5 miles from Oakland, and the Pitt campus.

Never went to college there, (or anywhere) but used to take a bus as a kid to see the Cathedral of learning, and other great architecture in the area ...(early '70's) the museum was world class then, and I hope to visit again someday soon.

Too late to say I don't want to derail this thread, :) so where did you grow up?

Go Pens!

EDIT:

I'm even a Pirates fan... forever and ever!

One really special memory is of the time my Dad took me to a game at Forbes Field.

Big BIG Detroit win tonight!

I, (as a Pens fan) need a Pens blowout in game 6... a way of saying, yeah, it happens sometime, so what?

Red Wings took a major step closer to a repeat.

Been busy. My fiancee and I were at a friend's birthday party at a local bar. Once the Astros game was over, they were kind enough to switch to the hockey game...I saw the end of the 2nd intermission and all of the 3rd period. I caught the first half of the first period before we headed out, too. Is aw 0-0 before we left....and then I see it's 5-0 at 2nd intermission.

Pens might be able to force a game 7...but I don't think they can WIN a game 7.

Game 5 hurt. Very impressive showing by a talented and motivated Detroit team. They clearly wanted to send a message. I am still rooting for the Pens until the end, though! A Game 7 would be awesome!

Inevitable? Probable, yes, but not inevitable. If the Pens win game 6 the pressure will be firmly on Detroit.

Great Game 6 effort by the Pens! I am worried however that some of the Pens are happy just to get to Game 7. You can't think that way. You gotta wanna win!!! Detroit will be exceptionally tough at home but hey, Game 7's can be funny things...

The pressure is firmly on Detriot and Osgood now. I expect the Penguins to come out fast and furious (as they have most of the series) and play loose. They have nothing to lose now that they have proven they can hold their own with the defending champs.

It's anyone's Cup!

Got my octopus at hand (one of my son's rubbery plastic toys, I toss it towards the TV when we score), wearing my 1997 championship t-shirt (reprint of Detroit Free Press front page, Yzerman holding Cup, headline "Stanleytown"), got my 1998 championship hat on......I'm ready for Game 7.

Wow! After that one I had to break out the heart paddles and then head straight here. To win against a team as talented as the Red Wings on their home ice was pretty incredible. Hats off to Detroit. They had a lot of good chances. The one that hit the cross bar had me considering installing a pacemaker. Seemed like it was just Pittsburgh's year. I am a very happy long-time Pens fan...

I hate sports. Why do I bother? I saw one period of the finals (3rd), and Detroit spent about 15 of 20 mins in the Pens zone, could only get 1 goal. I thought they were in trouble when the period opened and they immediately applied pressure, then got the PP, but couldn't score. I thought, uh oh.

And how about Marian Hossa. What must he be thinking? They kept camera on him quite a bit after the game. Guy must think he's the problem.

I hear ya, Cybrweez. Pens were playing gut-busting desperation defense the majority of the time just to hang in there. Detroit's long one-timer from the point to high right corner of the net was a heck of a goal. But hey, look for Detroit to come roaring back next year. Wouldn't a rubber match in next year's Cup be awesome?

I spent the whole 3rd period yelling at the TV screen "if you keep playing this whole period in your own zone you are going to lose this game!"

I did not catch the game, but it was pointed out by duchess at the Hangar that Detroit was playing as a heavily injured team. That's not to diminish the Penguins' victory, but I think it showed Detroit's grit that they fought all the way to the end despite the loss of key players.

It showed both teams' grit that they fought to the end.

After the confetti falls, I give due respect to the other team. (When I win it's nice, but not always the case...)

Duchess of Malfi, long time (probably one of the first five) members of this board has my sympathy. If not for the fact of my 40 year love of the Penguins, I'd have rooted for her and a city that knows and respects hockey more than most!

And Seven Words... same deal.
Your posts exude and command respect and I don't know what to say, except I would have rooted for the Redwings if it had been any other team out there! (Especially the Flyers...HaHa.. Just for you ,Cyberweez!)
