Well, Serina certainly comprehensively (sp?) took out the women's final - the men's final is looking interesting... Roddick just won the first...

Roddick and Federer are on serve in the 5th set. Wimbledon has no tiebreakers in the 5th set. Considering how hard it has been for anyone to break serve, it could be a long 5th set.

OMG. They just had a picture of Federer, Sampras, Borg, and Laver all touching the Wimbledon trophy at the same time.

I admit, I ended up rooting for Roddick. He played magnificently, and not just because his serve was unbreakable for the whole match, right up until the end. His game was solid throughout. It was really too bad someone had to lose. Two unbelievable Wimbledon men's finals in a row.

Federer has now surpassed Pete Sampras for the most Grand Slam titles - 15. Is Federer the greatest of all time? Well, IMO, the greatest accomplishment in men's tennis remains Rod Laver's winning all four majors in the same year - and he did it twice. So I don't think the debate is over for tennis fans.

Roddick played probably the two best matches of his life, back to back. I'm proud of him.

Man, tough to lose when you break your opponent twice, and only get broken once. Gotta step up in tiebreakers. Roddick was up 6-2 in the 1st tiebreaker, that probably cost him the match. Says alot tho that he came back in 4th to win that set. Last set was 16-14, crazy.

Read an article in SI about Nadal and the way he plays, injury may be a factor throughout his career. Will be interesting to see. Reminds me of a running back who loves to run people over, but only lasts 4, 5 years. You have to play smart to have long career.

And the women's final was boring. I think fans love to see Williams sisters play well and kick butt, as long as they don't wind up facing each other. Its a 2 edged sword.

Well, last year the Williams sisters had two great finals, Wimbledon and US Open, but this year not so good. Venus has been playing with one leg taped up for the whole tournament, so I doubt she was as well conditioned to meet Serena as usual.

True about Roddick. After getting through all those sudden death games at the end, he finally ran out of mental strength, it looked like. He was Federer's equal for a very long time, though.

Update:
Tennis.com says Roddick has pulled out of next weekend's Davis Cup due to the injury when he fell. Apparently it came back to get him overnight. Has to be bad -- Roddick loves Davis Cup.

Fish is joining the lineup instead.

That was awesome! As a long time tennis player/fan I have seen the first three gentlemen play many many times over the years but unfortunately the great Mr. Laver predated me. Of course I have seen many clips but would love to have seen matches. As for the "who is the best of all time" question that sports fans love to debate, I feel that in the end there are just too many factors that come into play to be definitive (years played, strength of contemporaries, etc.). And I don't feel that number of majors won is the only criteria either. Also, although I was not a fan of them personally, you can't neglect the other greats like Conners, McEnroe, Becker, Lendl (not just referring to Wimbledon obviously, given the esteemed Mr. Lendl's famous grass alergies...

) And we can't forget the (slightly) more "mature" champs like Emerson, Roche, and Newcombe (loved the mustache!)

That is a very interesting point. I personally like what he brings to the game so I hope his physicality doesn't result in an issue for him in the long term.
