I looked for an old thread to revive, there wasn't one... I hoped there was since some older posts over the years would have been insightful.
Jason Whitlock, Foxsports writer has written a very interesting article. It may be sexist, probably is a little at least. I would like to hear from the female fans here on the 'watch... (everyone welcome, of course) I personally think it is dead on the money, just a bit controversial.
Basically, he calls Serena a slacker!
Here it is:

I never considered such a thing, but having read Whitlock for years now, and sort of following the Williams' through the years as well... I think this article has merit.
Or is it just hateful? Help me with this.

Forgive me, but was Whitlock watching a different tournament than I? Serena did just completely smash the best tennis players in the world to win Wimbledon, right? What else does this guy want? I mean, what is it to him if she doesn't like to follow a diet or train like a banshee?
Admittedly, Serena mightn't play politics as well as her sister - witness Venus' deft handling of questions regarding the women's ranking, as opposed to Serena's sarcastic comments. And that 'Are you looking at my titles?' T-Shirt was, in my opinion, ill considered. But hey, i think Federer wearing clothes with his initials on it is gauche, too.
I wonder if Whitlock has written similar articles about 'over-weight', 'lazy' male sports stars?

Stone and Sea are deep in life,
two unalterable symbols of the world;
permanence at rest, and permanence in motion;
participants in the Power that remains.

Maybe there's an old one on Agassi before he started focusing on his game. Some athletes don't mature as fast as others; doesn't mean they're lazy.Earthfriend wrote:I wonder if Whitlock has written similar articles about 'over-weight', 'lazy' male sports stars?
Dandelion don't tell no lies
Dandelion will make you wise
Tell me if she laughs or cries
Blow away dandelion
I'm afraid there's no denying
I'm just a dandelion
a fate I don't deserve.
