wish i'd been there

no. its not another concert thread (okay well sorta).
its a musician thread primarily.
where would you like to have been moments in live
performance.
a sort of, i wish i'd been in that band, playing that music, at that
moment type deal. capische? (or however you spell that)


i know, not having followed the music path to its logical conclusion (playing professionally), there are certain moments i dream of having
had just a small part in...musical moments that quintessentially define
the kind of musical moments i missed on stage, not having been there/done that...sooooooo

what's yours? is it on vid? can we see where and when and what you'd like to have been doing, had ya been there? :biggrin:
(no judgements or criticism for the choices made here in this thread folks, this is not a basher thread. this is only for the love of it. just because i ain't doin it don't mean i ever stopped lovin it like i did so don't piss on anyone's choices, k?)

a sort of "what band wouldja like to have played in and what song typifies that?" type of thread, yes?

dudes i have TONS. heh. here's one of my first ones.
i'd like to have been the 4th girl. i've practiced that 4th part MANY
a time listening to and watching this one..

i WANT jon carin's beautiful fender acoustic tho!! i love how he nails
the vocals in this tune and i love the precision of this particular live
performance.

sure would have liked to have been there! HEY! WHAT?! i was skinny once and looked damn good in a little black dress! :P :lol:

The Acme AND nadir of my actual career as a musician came in the mid eighties when our band got a gig at the Mpls. premier musical venue, First Avenue. (Though it had a different name at the time.)

The Artist Formerly Known as The Artist Formerly Known as Prince was in the audience, and we were extremely nervous. Prince was on the brink of achieving his national fame, and for some time had been quite reknowned locally. Unfortunately, our jitters were our undoing, and we performed our set poorly. Afterward, Prince came up to us and recommended we not quit our day jobs. Otherwise, the guy was and remains a sweetheart. :biggrin:

Hard to choose a fantasy scenario to put myself in, but if I have to choose then I'd like to perform with Springsteen.

I had to be talked into attending my first Springsteen concert, but that guy puts on such a fun and get-your-money's-worth-and-then-some show, it would be a real treat to part of it.

Performing with The Boss would be a real and unforgettable blast.

I would love to have done the Concorde thing at Live Aid UK.

Play backing guitar with Brian May and Queen. Then fly to the JFK Staduim to play with Tom Petty, The Cars, Neil Young, Hall and Oats, Led Zepplin, Mick Jagger and Tina Turner, and finally Bob Dylan.

Ah...what a dream!

Interesting thread. I just went to see one of my favorite musicians last Saturday. I had to drive to Ft. Walton Beach to see him, but it was worth it. His name is Terry Taylor, and he's been the frontman for Daniel Amos, the Swirling Eddies, the Lost Dogs, and has done several solo albums too. A drummer friend of mine turned me on to his work almost 20 years ago, and this is the first time I actually got to see him perform. My drummer friend went too, and we got to talk with Terry about coming down to the Tampa Bay area next summer and using us as his backup band.....so I may very well end up living a "wish I'd been there" scenario.

The nearest I have to playing with a musical hero is with Mike Oldfield on his online VR music game MAESTRO. I haven't been able to get hooked up to it yet, but remain hopeful.
