Nice shot, Fist!

I showed a similar picture of mine to a co-worker, and I remember her saying "it's just like what you see in those Jesus movies." I thought that was an amusing - and accurate - assessment.

And lorin...holy, are you kidding me?? To say your mom was a pretty good artist seems an understatement. From my cursory knowledge of painting styles, I'm guessing your mom was inspired by the impressionists. I see the textures and colours of Degas and Monet in those paintings, maybe a touch of Renoir?

Because I'd never have the camera with me, but I carry the cellphone practically everywhere. :) And I'll likely get a new cellphone next spring when I renew/change my contract anyhow -- might as well get one with a decent camera...

Where's the pictures y'all? For serious. I KNOW none of you have gotten as much rain as we have here in the NE (of the US that is). Post that sh*t!

I've been unconsciously color coordinating my photography apparently:

Flowers (durh) and more yarn! I completely apologize for taking more pictures of boring 'ol yarn BUT....these mini skeins are 100% handpainted silk, which makes them much more awesome than what your Grammy knits with.

the new york city shelter where i work. 100 apartments, 400 +/- people. there are 280 family shelters in nyc, mine is a peanut compared to some of them. truth is i am kind of proud of the fact that this is a decent place, not an easy accomplishment in the heart of brooklyn.

My beautiful son in a surprise photo mini-session. He'll be 3 in November and I tear up every time I take his picture.

Cute photos JazFusion! One of the cutest ages - and one of the toughest behaviour-wise! I have a 4 year old and 6 year old - for me when they reached 4, they started settling down, just a tiny bit! But sooo cute...

A few pictures from my recent holidays on "Helgoland" (Heligoland), the only German off-shore island. It's located in the North Sea, about 70km (40 miles) away from the coats line. This makes it a duty free zone, so all good things are tax free and thus way cheaper than on the continent.

Heligoland actully conists of two islands that were naturally connected until a storm flood in 1720.

Here is a view from the upperland of the main island over to "Düne" (The Dune). northern beach is left, southern beach is right.

I am the walrus goo goo g' joob. It's not the Caribbean, but some 16°C / 60F (give or take a little) are perfect for me.

Not quite suru-pa-maerl yet, but the Missus and the Vadress are working on it.

rhadhamaerl and lillianrill combined.
Image

The typical red sandstone of the main island.

What SRD actually forgot to tell us, Kevin's Watch is in the Sea. (The "Tall Anna", landmark of the island)

Stone and Sea are deep in life - if I were a giant I would have built Coercri right here.

On a side note - in Halunder the Frisian language originally spoken on Heligoland the island is called "Deät Lunn" which translates into "The Land".

And when you approach the island you'll see the written on the harbor walls "Welkoam iip lunn" - Welcome to The Land. ;)

Beautiful, Vader!

...and nope.
No argument this time from me.
I can also easily picture Coercri there.
And the "Tall Anna" is perfect for Kevin's Watch, except for being on an island.

I can't believe you went swimming in 60°F water!
This Floridian would have yelped out loud at that temperature.

Wonderful...

Ahhhh, there's nothing like the good 'ol Gulf. I miss it so much. I used to spend my summers in Galveston, TX and we'd visit family in Pensacola. Now that I'm in NH, the waters here are a nice 52°F year round...

Siesta Key Beach near Sarasota...

I've done ice swimming so 52F sounds like pure luxury to me. :p

hahahaha You're talking to some Americans who live down south where 50°F is cold. ;)

Here's the painting I finished last night. Acrylic on an 8"x10" canvas. I guess this should go in the art thread instead of the photography thread, but I can never find it.

That's actually more or less how I imagine Revelstone. You know, the front bit with the tower. Of course, there's a walled courtyard at the base and it isn't quite as rugged as that, but...that's the basic shape.

Impressive rock formations, Lord Vader, most impressive...

JazFusion, you have a very photogenic child...middle pic is wonderful...

(Btw, compliments on your painting, too!)

I have no kids, but, um, today I did get a shot of a rather adorable arctic fox cub:
