I personally say "yea" to this one...chrons w/ no TC would SUCK...well SRD would make 'em worth it, but they would NOT BE AS GOOD
I know there's a post just like this...but I want to see some percentages...SO VOTE!
"Well of course I understand. You live forever because your pure, sinless service is utterly and indomitably unballasted by any weight or dross of mere human weakness. Ah, the advantages of clean living."

I think the question should be more precise... It's for granted TC will show up at least once in whatever form, the question is do we want him as protagonist or not?
I reckon he should be there, where he was left at end of WGW ... but some circumstance should have been fashioned to make his form of presence excruciating for him.
A third series on the Land should focus on Berek. The story of the Old Lords seems to me to be better material than post-WGW. Perhaps TC appears in the form of a vision......
Any jackass can kick down a barn, but it takes a good carpenter to build one.
Yeah, definitely not TC OR LA for lead....TC's been done...Linden I just think of as being a closed line of thought, I mean, she's through with the Land, I think. But SRD could make anything work.

we've been down this one before,
how can you have a 3rd chronicles of TC per se without him?
The arch of time is a fundamental theme through the chronicles and TC at the end is a part of it, therefore he can't fail to be in further books.
By a protagonist, I take it that we mean a major character? Can't see how this couldn't be the case. The chronicles are about HIM, not about the Land. The land is just the stage on which he is expressing his life trials- imperfection, accpetance, sacrifice, redemption etc.
I see the next set of books exploring another ethic along these lines with TC's "being" in some form through it.
SRD has said in The Palace interview that now that the laws of life and death have been broken, there's no reason why Covenant would stay dead. I think we can expect to see TC return in a similar way to Hollian.
Q. Why do Communists drink herbal tea?
A. Because proper tea is theft.
I don't think he should come back. Even though I haven't finished the 2nd chrons, I hear that he dies, I think therefore, he should stay dead because if he comes back, to me, it would seem rather desperate on SRD's part.
I agree with those who hold that a 3rd chronicles of TC cant realistically be contemplated without TC ..
I want TC to retain his role as antagonist .. or else why do a 3rd chronicles about him???
Death is no stop to TC's primary role in the chrons. Mhoram Elena Foamfollwer and BAnnor etc.. were all dead in the 2nd chrons .. and they still played their part ..
So TC will retain his greater role .. how? dunno?? ::shrug:: .. but it doesnt matter really to me .. SRD will do right by TC of that I am sure ..
keep smiling

Well – The idea of the Third Chronicles continues to pique interest. So, I am going to do an encore of a stunt I pulled some time ago.
I am going to place this same post at all of the following topics.
This will accomplish two things:
1. It will annoy a lot of people (sorry folks) by moving all the Third Chronicles topics to the top of the list, temporarily. Not to worry though, they'll drift back down lower in the list soon.
2. Now each of these threads will be linked to each other, sort of a cross reference.
I personally hope to see Linden as the lead protagonist, with Covenant present as a Ben Kenobi type figure - appearing periodically in a magical ghost body to dispense advice and whatnot.
"If nothing we do matters, then all that matters is what we do."
He definitely should be in the Third Chronicles, even if it's only in specter form. Covenant is the series. And he may drive me crazy, but I love him anyway.
I'd love to see another chronicle, but I wouldn't know where it would go. After the last book, TC seemed to be out of the picture and somewhat redeemed. I think maybe if Lord Foul would interfere with what's her name and wipe away her "I'm better than the white gold wielder" persona, TC could come back to save her sorry hiney and take his place as the bitter, sarcastic hero again. Just a thought.
