Then you have heard wrong, my good man. After watching the DVD, I feel the same way about QoS as I did when I saw it in theatres:Lord Foul wrote:You're not missing much, from all I've heard. More loud than stylish Bond.
Quantum of Solace is excellent. I loved it.Rigel wrote:Then you have heard wrong, my good man. After watching the DVD, I feel the same way about QoS as I did when I saw it in theatres:Lord Foul wrote:You're not missing much, from all I've heard. More loud than stylish Bond.
This is Bond for grown-ups.
The style, the grit, the characters, the relationships... Quantum of Solace is a masterpiece, and easily the best Bond film to date. It makes all previous Bond films look like Adam West's Batman; if Casino Royal was Batman '89, then QoS was Batman Begins (we're still waiting for the Dark Knight of Bond films, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that someone will pull it off).
Stop listening to whoever said that to you, and go watch it today! That's an order!
I love Totoro. My wife and I saw it recently (although I had seen it before), and we keep quoting lines from it.Lord Foul wrote: Just ordered My Neighbor Totoro on DVD. Never seen it, should be exciting (especially to hear EarthBound's creator voice a character), and now all I need is Porco Rosso and Grave of the Fireflies (both of which I've never seen) for my Ghibli collection to be complete!
Actually no...the thing got super delayed, so I had to refund it. I'll get it eventually, but right now my monetary powers are going toward the Beatles in Mono box set...Cagliostro wrote:I love Totoro. Porco Rosso was ok, and Grave of the Fireflies was especially sad. I don't know if I could get through that one again.
You might have already received them. I'm curious about your thoughts.
I'd say Casino Royale was Batman Begins, both being successful reboots of the series... Honestly, I tried to watch the movie, but it was just too actiony for a Bond for me. Maybe I'll try it again and see the light you're seeing.Rigel wrote:Then you have heard wrong, my good man.
