I don't get it. Is there a new Family Guy themed game coming out or something?Loremaster wrote:The Bird is the Word
Anyway, I tried Mass Effect... my god, are ALL the Bioware games this cheesy, and I just never noticed? They were always known for good storylines and strong characters, but this... is atrocious.
I'll keep playing to see if it gets better, but... wow. It's bad.
At least the actual gameplay is good.

I finally went back and finished "Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway," as well as "Rainbow Six: Vegas."
Now, I'm focusing on getting more achievements from "Red Faction: Guerilla."
And, I just bought "Lord of the Rings: Conquest" on eBay. We'll see how that one turns out.

I may yet give Dawn of War a try one day. I tend to be despicably awful at strategy games, though I quite enjoy them.
Shadowrun arrived today, and I can see why it got bad reviews. That's not to say it's a bad game - it's too early to tell - but it has a very steep learning curve. It took three hours just to get through the tutorial. There are so many spells and techs, and ways they can be used together, that my mind is still reeling. I went online once, and lasted all of twenty seconds. Fortunately there's an option to play solo matches with bots, so I'll use that function for practice for a while.
In the meantime, I'm still playing Battlefield 1943. I've got to the point of (usually) not being a total embarrassment to my team. Last night I managed to get eleven kills in one match, which is a personal best. I usually average about four at the moment.

After I posted on Tuesday, I discovered "Shadow Complex," and I've been hooked on that all week
I just finished it the second time, this time with 100% items. My next goal is minimal items (supposedly you can do it with 4%). After that, if I'm not bored yet I'll go for a speed run.

Yesterday I downloaded the Left 4 Dead 2 demo. It's...interesting. I'm not convinced by the melee weapons - they seem over-powered. The new infected types could be fun though. The whole thing felt very glossy, and I think that's mainly because it's set in glaring sunshine instead of the night time/gloomy grey of the first game.
I've also finally received Rainbow Six: Vegas 2. It's hard.

Hmm, sounds interesting. I might check it out at some point.Rigel wrote:After I posted on Tuesday, I discovered "Shadow Complex," and I've been hooked on that all weekI just finished it the second time, this time with 100% items. If you enjoyed the original Metroid (or Super Metroid), then you'll enjoy it. The gameplay was heavily influenced by those two games, but set in an alternate reality at the start of a second American Civil War.CovenantJr wrote:Hmm, sounds interesting. The story in the game is quite minimal, although the voice acting is well done. However, Chair (the dev company) actually contracted Orson Scott Card to develop the in-game universe... he liked it so much, he licensed it back from them to write a series of books in it (I think it's called the "Empire" series, though I haven't read it). With all that, I would expect more games in this setting from Chair, though not necessarily with the same gameplay (there are lots of options for it).

I may have to give Borderlands a try. I was delayed before being able to purchase either Arkham Asylum or Brutal Legend, and now find that my enthusiasm for both titles has waned.
However, I've heard good things about Borderlands. How's the multiplayer in it?

I've always felt that way about Advance Wars until I played Days of Ruin. That was one of the first game I got for the DS, and I have barely played it. However, I just bought Dual Strike and am enjoying the hell out of it. I guess I like my Advance Wars with bright and sunny colors, and the silliness instead of the depressing murk that Days of Ruin is. I'll get back to it one of these days, but right now I'm enjoying this.CovenantJr wrote:I did notice that any time you're online you're playing Katamari.Whereas I keep finding myself on Puzzle Quest. So simple, so repetitive, but so difficult to stop playing.

My partner and I have been playing Dawn Of War 2 on LAN which is great!!! Graphics are awesome but i like Dawn of War Soulstorm the best.... the Sisters of Battle rock! We both like to play Space Marines.
We ve also been playing The Battle for Middleearth 1. I would like to play the other two games in the anthology but im looking for one at a good price.
Prior to this we ve been addicted to Enemy Territory Quake Wars online. Great fun although Im not a Supreme Commander yet.
