The Bell at Sealey Head

Post by Usivius »

this is another one from Patricia McKillip.

wow.

Fantastic. I love her prose. Absolutely wonderful. And although she can be a little hit and miss with a completely satisfying story, I always enjoy reading her stuff.
"The Bell at Sealey Head" is a damn fine book, beginning to end. Slow build up, weird revelations, mystery builds, evil reveals itself and thrilling conclusion.
Sounds pretty straighforward, but there is nothing cliche about this at all. Many of McKillip's themes are present, and used in wonderfully imaginative ways.

The story is set in, what I am guessing, as mid 1800s in a small village called Sealey Head. There is a wonderful cast of characters, who slowly chrun together and discover a mystery in the villaage ...
To say more would spoil things.

It is wonderfully subtle and rich.
enjoy.
