Doctor Who
I love this show. I consider it to be the best sci-fi series ever. Yes it had poor effects but the stories were very well written. Best Doctor would have to be Jon Pertwee.

A friend of mine, who is a great fan, said that the best description of this series is that they took the money ment for the special effects and gave them to the script writers instead...
I've seen very few episodes but I agree anyway...
A good choice in my opinion...

I disagree, I think, Tom Baker was the best doctor, followed by peter davison.
So is the new show still on track to be released fall '05 ?

I agree with TRC. I would like to rewatch the whole series during the time Baker and Davidson were playing.TRC wrote:I disagree, I think, Tom Baker was the best doctor, followed by peter davison.
The "special effects" added their own charm. When you've memorialized a scene with the label "Attack of the Deadly Piece of Cellophane," it isn't easy to forget.

I know for one story they used alfoil for an alien race, but that's what was great with the show: aliens looked alien. Star Trek completely fails to give us alien-looking creatures. Dr Who really had unique and interesting creatures. Okay some of them looked fake, but the BBC tried so hard to deliver quality entertainment that they should be applauded.
My problem with Tom Baker, though, is that he's too damn eccentric in the role.

Yeah Davidson was good. Peri eventually married King Ycarnos.Matrixman wrote:Never watched the early era. Got into Dr. Who in the latter stages of its run in the Eighties, particularly as the Peter Davison era began. He remains my favorite Doctor, because he was the most dashing and handsome one. He was the young and sensitive Doctor, and I liked that. I also liked his companion, Perpa-? Perpigil-?? aargh! Peri Brown!! Can someone please tell me what exactly happened to her? Her fate wasn't too clear to me at the time.
