What is going on here?

Post by Edward »

I have lurked in this forum for quite a long time now and it has been a good place. But recently it has gone downhill, I don't like to name names but i will name threads. "right said thread"-utter trash!. "the pr0n thread"- on kevinswatch? this place has changed, for the worse. "Sex story from abroad"- STOP IT, NOW! this is not the whole list, it is only a very small amount. I am disapointed, some people need to be banned.

Stunned silence . . . . say what? I was kidding vigilanti - that RST was never meant to be serious. Jeez don't get so worked up.

There are still a lot of 'serious' threads. It's not so terrible to joke around sometimes is it?

This might sound a little harsh but does it really matter in the long run? If it does matter to you, then you may have to consider not visiting the Watch anymore. I would rather you satyed, as I love the fact that so many different people make up our little community here (yes Zeph, even you), but if aren't enjoying Kevin's Watch anymore, maybe leaving is the answer.

As for the tone of the threads going downhill, yes many of our threads are a little silly at times, and some are even a bit risque, but I'm am pretty sure that we like it that way. We have younger people, older people, middle-aged people, men, women, parents, singles, Christians and homosexuals who call KW their home as it were, and they all like to have a bit of a laugh now and then, even on the Pr0n thread. Those that don't seem to cope with sticking to the more serious threads on the Watch, of which there are many.

Please don't take this personally, as it isn't meant to offend. I am just responding honestly to your concerns.

I was just pointing out the obvious. Please, don't attack me for it, I speak the truth.

I'm genuinely sorry if feel attacked as that was not my purpose. I just wanted to point out that at the Watch we like to enjoy life as well as have interesting, in-depth discussions on a range of topics. Please accept my apologies if I have offended you, but also remember that if you are offended then that is your issue to work through.

You say that you are poiting out the obvious, but I feel that it is only obvious from your perspective and according to your own unique point of view. What you believe to be true others may not, and I have noticed that truth is very subjective, like everything else really. You might see the Pr0n Thread or the Right Said Thread as being distasteful or rubbish but many of us here enjoy them for their light-heartedness. That is part of what makes KW so great. We all try to repsect everyone else by allowing them to express their opinions, and by expressing our own opinions and replying to theirs in a way that does not degrade them in any way. We may not always be successful in this (I know you are reading this Zeph) but we try, and I think we get better at it every day.

Be welcome here at Kevin's Watch Vigilanti. Welcome and true.

Hey bud, if you don't like the pr0n thread then don't read it. It's that simple. It's not like we strap you to that computer chair of yours and hold your eyelids open with toothpicks (ouch). I don't like some of the stuff people do, but I'll defend their right to do it. Except chainlink.

I love the sidebar threads, after delving into some serious discussion over novels for a while, it's fun to kick back and get goofy in some not so serious threads, and they may have been deleted before I read them, but I have never seen anything posted HERE that I wouldn't let my children read, And I Still monitor what they do when they are on cartoon network.
Yes I guess we can all just get along !

Could you please not turn this thread--a place for serious discussion-- into a playground for your stupidity, you have already done that to enough threads. I know me posting this is going to incite you against me, but i believe people should stand up for what they believe in; too often I see people doing what they think other people would like them to do, even if they don't agree themselves. My purpose is not to make you angry, or start a flameing contest, it is to help you realise that this is a great place and we shouldn't spoil it.

Nobody's spoiling it--I was replying to variol son. I think it was warranted. And I have made a serious reply to this thread already, which you haven't replied to. You sit there and belittle me and then you ask for a flame war not to erupt . . . Funny, real funny.

I took care of that one topic by chainlink and deleted it. I try to delete any topics like that which are just completely pointless. All you ever have to do is send me a PM when you think a topic should be closed or deleted. Or if you think someone should be banned.

Hm, perhaps we need another Mod for this forum? What do you all think about a Mod Election topic?-jay

Another thing. Don't go saying I ruin topics. Here are the FACTS:

I posted the pr0n thread and that was it. If I ever posted something stupid it was posted in an intentionally stupid thread--a thread made to be silly in. I don't go to threads and ruin them, that's not the truth. In fact the one thread that ticked you off the most--"sex from abroad"--was posted by one chainlink, who I've mentioned. Not I nor anybody else but him was responsible for that one.

Alright now, can we be cool? I think we all just want what's best for the Forums. So lets just try to set aside this little fights. Can you all just appologize for whatever? And lets see if we can just find some agreement here, so everyone's happy.-jay

My question about Chainlink was quite serious, I would like to know who on earth he is. 8O

Like Lord Foul I don't think that the little side jokes spoil things. I generally like them to be kept in their own threads and kept out of serious discussion, especially in the author forums, but a little joke every now and then doesn't worry me.

Ok, it's time for a public apology. You see this started off as a joke, unfortunatly it escilated to a level i didn't expect. I understand that it is very tastless, but it seemed like a good idea at the time. I take full responsibility for this and place no blame on any co conspiriters. You see, the thing is, I am Hierachy. :D
