The Host, by Stephenie Meyer
Ok, I did read Twilight when it first came out because someone gave my daughter a copy, but was not interested enough to read the sequels, and the hype just repels me. But, I saw this in the Library and was intrigued. I'm about 1/3 of the way through and really enjoying it so far. Kind of a body-snatchers story, except the original personality is battling with the invading alien for control. Anyone else?

I've only heard about it from my sister. Sounds a bit like Puppetmasters by Heinlien... but then, all bodysnatchers stories do

Q. What was the original bodysnatchers story?
Filmsite.org says about the 1956 film:
Interesting that the idea and story keeps resurfacing.

But then, there was Rober Lous Stevenson's story called The Body Snatchers about grave-robbers turned murderers who supplied anatomy classes with cadavers for dissection; this was based on a true story. It was originally based upon a three-part serial story written by Jack Finney that appeared in Colliers Magazine in late 1954, and then in 1955 was rendered into an expanded novel, The Body Snatchers.

It's debateable, I'm sure there are similar mythological "bodysnatcher" stories out there, but the earliest sci-fi one that I know of is Heinlein's novel Puppetmasters (1951).deer of the dawn wrote:Q. What was the original bodysnatchers story?
