Led looks around, and sees Laurel passed out again.

"Oh damn. I thought we'd taken care of everybody already. Sorry Laurel." He rushes over to her, and tries to stop the bleeding, muttering apologies all the while.

"I'm sorry. I didn't mean the snap about the armour... I was just hurt. Please don't die..."

Vynarkus watches Led and Laurel, wishing he could do something to help.

While Led stops the bleeding [ooc]since Seven said we would be moving along, I'm assuming Led was successful[/ooc] Vynarkus goes to Marrik, and asks him to begin using his Lay on Hands to wake up Laurel once Led is done.

After that happens [ooc]if it does...[/ooc], Vynarkus asks Laurel to start singing a Hymn and asks Marrik to use his Lay on Hands to cure us all, using the smallest possible amount at least once to determine if Healing Hymn affects it.

After we are all healed, Vynarkus suggests that Laurel, Marrik, and Barak all go to sleep and leave the watch to the others, so they can recover all of their spells and abilites after a bit of a late start.

[ooc]Just FYI...
Laurel already has sung the Hymn and is why she went to bed, other than feeling lightheaded due to loss of blood[/ooc]

[ooc]Yes, but I wanted her to sing the Hymn so it would effectively multiply Marrik's Lay on Hands ability by 8 times.

If it has any effect on Lay on Hands at all...[/ooc]

Led takes the first watch after the fight, since he's still kind of freaked out about Laurel's condition.

The day dawns, and nothing of note has transpired.

Marrik apologizes, but "My wounds are, I fear, most grievous of us all. I am somewhat ill at ease to lavish so great a portion of our healing upon myself, but...." And he lays hands upon himself (heal 15 points

He looks around, assessing everyone else's wounds...."Led and I are near equal, and as we engage the foe most closely, I suggest a lightest of healing spells for each of us before we press on. Unless you wish to wait another day, and heal fully?"

Vynarkus grimaces. "I wish we could, but I don't really think we can wait another day. We need to get going, both to rescue Beauregard, and to stop these villians.
"I just hope we don't get into another fight today."

Upon awakening, the bard is groggy but conscious. Her lips thin at Marrik's words, then she nods.

"The experiment Vynarkus suggested to me obviously did not work. But I am glad to have learned this now, instead of relying on trying it under more grievous circumstances.

"I dislike the idea of using two of my spells so early in the day, but as we know not what we will face it is better to have you and Led as close to fully healed as we can manage."

First walking to the paladin, Laurel gently touches the area of his wounds and hums quietly to herself. What little healing comes from the golden glow that spreads from her to the paladin merits her a small smile in return.

Then making her way to the scribe, she looks in to his eyes. "Forgive me my selfishness. I still wished to earn my place among the party and feared a spell of mine may be needed other than healing. I will do my best to not seek such grandiose actions in the future."

With that she simply laid a hand softly upon his cheek as the power flowed from her to him. Then she dropped her hand and made her way to Garvin and Hardy to prepare them for the day's travel.

[ooc]cast one CLW each upon Marrik and Led[/ooc]

Led chuckled. "Grandiose? Consider this, lady: for lack of healing, we're seriously considering the possibility of staying in this camp for a full day more. Tell me which of our jobs is more important to the group?"

"At best, Marrik's and my job is to defend you long enough for you to save the rest of us. That's not an ancillary role, it's just not as flashy."

Laurel leans close to Garvin's ear and quietly whispers to her mare as tears silently run down her cheeks, "All well and good. But of how many Healers are tales sung?"

Led chuckled. "Well, since you're the only bard present, I guess the subject of our song is really up to you."

"But seriously, when did this become about fame? You dreamed of coming north from your Ree so you could hear tales from exotic lands. In any of that, did you imagine that you would be creating the tales? And if you did, did you expect to both perform the great deeds AND write the songs about them?"

"Lady, perhaps things were very boring for you where you came from, and you imagined you'd come north and experience some excitement. I grew up in exciting lands, and it's nothing to desire. It's necessary ugliness. You do it because it needs doing, but nobody sane should ever WANT it."

"My master tells the tale of the Cloud Dancer clan of Heshics. They were attacked by some demon. I'm no bard so I won't attempt to give all the details properly, but... 30 warriors in the tribe were there. Ten of them rushed the demon and died. Ten of them helped the rest of the tribe seek cover or escape. Ten of them rushed the monster with the ten who died, but they survived the rush. One of those ten actually struck the blow that killed it. His name is repeated as the hero, but he didn't do anything different than the other 19. He just happened to live."

Marrik looks askance at Laurel. "Among the Frusvolk there is a great saga of a Healer, Bjarskunna Touch-of-Spring. A Necromancer had set up a temple to Tar-Rozaa in a small valley, which grew to be called the Gorge of Souls Shadow. It lay between two clans lands, and his power grew for near a hundred years before they realized what was happening. No warrior could enter the dark vale and live...but Bjasrkunna was both bard and cleric, and could weave his songs with his magic even as you do. His Healing Hymn and aura of healing both succored the warriors and weakened their undead foes. And at the last, he stopped the final transformation into a lich, ending the undead threat."

Skyseeker nods with Marrik's words. "Bethink you, Laurel. Who saved us all from the Dark Elves sendings along the corrupted Aether Web? Did you not conceive of, craft, and successfully play, the Unsong of Sleep? You demean yourself and your accomplishments with such self-pity."

Seeing the Bard still standing with hear head by her horse's ear, Led takes pity on her. "Okay, enough picking on Laurel for now. Let's mount up and head on. There are enemies trying to end the world, and they won't wait for us. We can heal ourselves up before a battle, if we know one is about to begin."

With that, he throws his saddle on his own horse, then helps Barak with his nag before mounting up himself.

sorry...

a small hill, with a not very recently revealed door in it. it is apparent to Led that the uncovering was not recent due to weathering, etc. judging by plant growth along edges of recess, at least 5 years, but no more than 10.

Foot prints clearly lead up to and in through the door.

Vynarkus looks towards the door, and his eyes take on the strange look that is both intense stare and unfocused gaze that shows that he is looking for magic.

As time passes and Vynarkus is silent, Marrik assumes that just as he detected no evil, so Vynarkus has detected nothing of note.....

"Let the Light shine!" he cries, as he slams into the door, shield-first. The solid craftsmanship of days gone by resists at first, but time and the paladin's strength prove more than it can take. As it bursts open, he quickly brings his axe to ready.....but no foes appear.

Led watches as Marrik slams his shield against the door.

"That would have been more impressive if the door hadn't fought back." he chuckled. Led glances around the area to see if they're getting attention from elsewhere.

Once the door is opened, and Marrik is standing there at the ready with nobody to attack, Led moves up behind him and looks into the room. Seeing nothing immediately there, he shifts into bestial form for extra defense, and moves past Marrik into the room beyond.
