mostly Mumford & Sons today. I can't decide whether I really like them, or I like them just cos they sound like other bands I like! Sort of folky blue grassy.

I'm not familiar with their music in general, but I keep hearing this song at a friend's house and I really like it - mainly because of the chorus melody. The song is 'Poem' by Taproot. If you have a listen, wait past the generic beginning.
Tool - 10,000 Days
War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself. The Latest by Cheap Trick. I'm not a huge CT fan, but I do like the early stuff, and this one has that vibe. It's the first cd I've liked from them since Lap Of Luxury, and the best one since Dream Police.

Earlier this morning, I was singing Tori's cover of "New Age" by The Velvet Underground.

(I can't find Tori singing, so here's the original, which also rocks)
I can't seem to get her album Strange Little Girls out of my head lately. I suppose it's an ebb and flow. Maybe I need to be really listening again.

I've listened to a number of songs today appropriate for a Saturday night, but since it was alt rock they all seemed to want to beat the piss o/o each other. Well, Sir Elton says: Saturday Night's alright for fighting.... anyway here's my (repeat) take on what a Saturday night should be all about... Small Town, Saturday Night

I'm re-living my mid-teens today. For some reason this song was in my head last week, but I couldn't even remember the name of the band. Saw it performed on a latenight tv show (anyone remember Clive James?), bought the single next day (yes, vinyl), played it to death for years but never knew anything about the band (no tinternet in those days). Was up in my attic a couple of days ago and looked through the old vinyl, got the name, looked on Amazon and found a 'best of' for £1.24!!!! Arrived today.

I've had a song stuck in my head for a while now. Part of the chorus keeps going round in my head, "Your heart felt good, it was dripping pitch and made of wood, and your hands and knees felt cold and wet on the grass beneath"

Kings of Leon cd boring? <gasp>. Can't comment on their live show. Now that I'm 50 instead of 20, I think most live shows are boring, off key, etc....but their last album is full of great songs. Too many to name (which means I'm too lazy to go look up all the names of the ones I rate 5 stars). Now their first two albums sucked. But the latest, I think is great.
