Yes, I think there's a balance. Church tradition cannot contradict the Bible, so to say that the Bible is the only authority is accurate. But, I too think that doesn't mean believers only need a Bible in order to fully grasp the glory of God. And, in America, individual is king, which has its own problems, just different then when Church is king. But, neither is ideal, we need a balance. The religious leaders of Jesus' day are one example, as in Revelation where He says He hates the Nicolatians. But on other hand, Paul says not to forsake gathering of believers, which some sects today believe you shouldn't even have a church gathering.
