My girlfriend and I just finished working through Blackadder II, Blackadder the Third and Blackadder Goes Forth. It's a long time since I last saw any Blackadder, so a lot of it was relatively fresh. Watching these three series back to back enabled me to notice changes. Mr Blackadder the butler is the most scheming incarnation, for instance, while Captain Blackadder is probably the most cowardly and Lord Blackadder might be the most pretentious. I had always thought of the character of Edmund as fairly constant throughout (with the exception of the first series) but in fact it's slightly different each time - whether this is intentional or not.

I think the third series is the best, I'm still waiting for an opportunity to use "I shall return...interfrasticly"

I said to myself "I cannot possibly believe that", and as I was saying it I noticed I had already believed it a second time. - Lichtenberg
