Actually, I'm pretty nuts about washing my hands. I also keep disposable rubber gloves on hand to deal with raw meat. Also, I just bought this super cool motion sensing soap dispenser, so I don't have to touch anything after handling raw meat in order to wash my hands (the faucet is lever-style, so I can use my elbow).

You can get salmonella from old eggs. But you can also get it if you open the egg and don't keep it cool - the moment it cracks bacteria will develop if the temperature is high enough (room temperature). That's why I'd never buy a cracked egg since I don't know for how long it has been exposed to air.

First of all, all what wonderful meals??? I'm bored with my menu these days!

But mainly, if a meal IS wonderful, that probably means that is DOESN'T have any eggs in it. (sort of) QED! Any other way of looking at it, makes no sense whatsoever to me.

I never think about salmonella in regard to eggs, as it really *is* rare.

I did get sick one time, several years ago, from what I'm sure was an undercooked egg. - What sucked about it was that it was over the 4th of Julu weekend, where I was invited to a party where I really wanted to hook up with a gal who was to be at that party. I couldn't go because I couldn't leave the bathroom.

I dont switch out eggs for some of the non-phobic reasons previously mentioned. Switching out takes too long and has the potential for messiness.

On the other hand, if the subject was mangoes, then I do take the time to switch out. I usually buy mangoes by the case (cheapest way to do so). I carefully scrutinize what's on offer and choose the case with the majority of the best looking fruit and then switch out any iffy looking ones. For mangoes, there is no such thing as taking too much time.

That question threw me for a loop. I have never considered touching the eggs in the bad carton. I think of it as an undesirable carton, not a bad egg.
