I have dial-up and a semi-functional computer, anything more will have to wait until I can afford a new router, which will depend on how many hours my boss deigns to give me this week. I need a real job. Too damn old to be living like this.

It is a sad, sad day. Today, Blizzard has announced that in Cataclysm, Death Knights will have a dedicated tanking tree, and it will be Blood.

RIP Frost tanking. RIP Dual Wield tanking. Good god I hope they gut Blood and rebuild it from the ground up, I hate the awful spec for tanking.

May have been a little too quick posting that. On the third re-install and patches are still failing. The repair tool does nothing. Did I lose something vital when I wiped my hard drive? I've been using the original discs; don't know if my backup is corrupted.

Sorry to hear you're still having trouble. Hope you're back up and running soon.

First of the Cataclysm class previews is up, the Shaman:
forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=24038611737&sid=1

One of the biggest things IMO:
Spiritwalker's Grace (level 85): When this self-targeted buff is active, your spells are no longer interrupted by movement and possibly even by your own attacks. This will give shaman of all three specs another way to heal or do damage when it’s necessary to move in both PvE and PvP. Instant cast. 10-second duration. 2-minute cooldown.
The ability to cast spells while moving is huge. They're also gaining a new Healing Wave that goes in between Lesser Healing Wave and the current (to be renamed Greater) Healing Wave, a ground-targetted AoE heal-over-time, and a ranged attack/heal that works a little like set bonuses - when you cast it, after the initial effect, you get a temporary buff.

ooooo! i'm soooo jealous! that is the only thing i don't like about my two casters, the inability to move while casting. just drives me inSANE.
and its just not fair. so many boss fights involve constant movement.

Warlock preview is up:

forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=24038461679&sid=1

Locks get some interesting changes. New spells include an instant cast spell similar to Frostfire Bolt (Fire/Shadow damage) that also refreshes a couple of their DoTs, and a Focus Magic-like spell that affects DoTs or HoTs from a friendly target.

They've done to Curses the same thing they did in 3.0 to Paladin Blessings - now the damage Curses will be called Banes and will not be exclusive with the debuff Curses (ie, you can put Curse of Elements or Curse of Weakness on a target, and you can cast Bane of Agony or Bane of Doom on the same target).

They're also changing the DoT mechanics, so a DoT will tick faster with Haste but not actually get shorter in duration, and refreshing a DoT will add to the duration without clipping the current one and losing ticks.

I know a few priests that are really looking forward to that ability!

The lock stuff looks interesting. Pity about the whole Blood Tank for dk's though, I much prefered Frost.

I'm DCing on the loading screen. Been trying to get in for an hour. Internet connection seems okay, so I have no idea what's wrong.

About ready to drop my computer out the nearest window.

Hmm, sounds familiar. Were you logged in a busy place? Is it affecting all toons, or just those in cities?

It could be an item cache issue, in which case the solution is to log into a quiet area first to let it start rebuilding, then move into busier places.

All toons, all servers. Reset my cache. Nothing.

Ugh, sounds serious. The Blizz solution would probably be to tell you to delete and reinstall.

I did that three times last week. >.<

Let me try my laptop, since my connection seems okay.

Oh? I thought it was a server issue at first, but the realm status page was green across the board.

I would really like the problem to not be on my end this time. :cross:

EDIT

Looks like it was Blizz this time as opposed to further fallout from the cylon attack on my computer. At least I just deleted my addons and not the entire WoW folder. Yay for having a simple interface.

You shouldn't really delete your addons for something like that - just cut and paste them elsewhere until you're sure they're not the problem.
