R.I.P. Peter Steele

You might not know who he was and you might not care, but yesterday (April 14) the world of metal/hardcore/industrial/goth/rock music lost one of its most influential artists over the last two decades.

Peter Steele, lead singer, bass player and mastermind behind Brooklyn based band Type O Negative died of a heart failure at the age of just 48.

I'm proud to have met the "green giant" and to have talked to him on serveral occassions over here in Europe in the past. It feels like I lost a friend.

My signature has a link to a "Back in The USSR" cover version the band played at festival in Germany in 1999.

Godspeed and may you finally find the peace in death you couldn't find in life. See you on the other side.

Have been on tour with House of Capricorn this last weekend, and Type O has been on high rotation (it always is, to be honest) in tribute. Needless to say we are all massive fans and the singalongs have been in full effect. Gutted living in the corner of the world that I never got to see them live. I even cheekily ripped off one of my favourite lines from "All Hallows Eve" (possibly my favourite Type O song ever) in the Gravin Threndor section of this forum.
Summoning the Night-wind requires blood-sacrifice, preferably a first-born child. Smiling wanly to himself, he recalled a line from the blasphemous poet Pietro D'acciaio; "High be the price but then nothing is free, my soul I'd gladly trade." If only he had brought some D'acciaio with him on this journey, but no matter. He had far too much work to do to allow for casual reading.
Sorry for ripping you off in Italian Peter (not that you'd give a fuck). You will be missed, you talented bastard.

Their rites of evil have only just begun...

Pietro D'acciaio - he would have laughed at that, as he always laughed at everything, even at himself.

Have you seen the latest pics where he got back some weight and sported that big beard? Like one of the giants from the chronicles :)

Did you ever have the chance to meet the boys? They are probably the nicest and most down to earth guys in music biz.
