Always happy to help, Jenn. Let me know if you have trouble opening the files. It should be fine, tho.

I'm fantasising about self-mutilation.
Had a long week of late nights and early starts. Last night I decided that as I had nothing on today, there was no particular reason to get up and I would lie in bed with no pressure, all day if necessary.
But of course body-clock has other ideas and I'm wide awake (but still exhausted) at the usual getting up time of 7am.
Now, if only I could find that bloody body clock - I am willing to operate!

I totally understand, Stone.
I should clean house today, since I'm going down tomorrow to pick up Magickmaker. Bets on whether the cleaning will happen?

Oh fine, then, I'll double post.
I *did* get the house cleaned Saturday, so there.
Yesterday I drove down to pick up Magickmaker. Needless to say, she wasn't finished packing, and also we had to drive around town to pick up stuff she'd lent out and drop off stuff she's giving away, and it took 2 trips to put some of her stuff into a storage unit, and.... Bottom line: we didn't get home 'til nearly midnight.
Good thing I took today off work.

Jenn --
Yesterday, I saw on the Blackberry that I'd received a voicemail from the secretarial manager. I could've blown it off, as I had the day off...but I called in and listened to the message anyway. She was asking me whether I could come in a half-hour early today to help her with a presentation to the firm's executive director, for which she would compensate me with a half-hour off later this week. Didn't see any reason not to, so I e-mailed her back and said sure, just tell me where to meet you.
So this morning, I met her at her office and walked with her to the HR director's office, where the executive director already was. It became apparent very quickly that I had been called in under false pretenses. Turns out that I've won one of the firm's above-and-beyond-the-call awards this year, for all the work I did booking travel for the India team last year. I got a nice letter and a paperweight for my desk. Oh, and a check.
I'm *so* glad I stopped myself from saying, "You're not sending me to Dayton, are you?"

So I'm just about to sign off on a work contract that'll see me with 150 hours work and then hopefully another 150 after that.
I stuffed up slightly: the company offered me a rate at $X per hour. I insisted my last contract with them was at a higher rate. So they came to the party (saying I was wrong but, ok, they're happy to pay me at a higher rate because it's a specialist field). I then found my old contract and They were right. I was wrong. But who cares! I managed to get myself a 10% pay rise.
Although I'm not passionate about lithics analysis, it pays really well and I can do it at home at my own pace and...well...I'll have my own money which will be great! Only downside is Mr Seareach is my boss!!!

Ah, home again
For Myles--
When evening shadows and the stars appear
And there is no one to dry your tears
I could hold you for a million years
To make you feel my love
For Mom--
Did you ever know that you're my hero,
and everything I would like to be?
I can fly higher than an eagle,
for you are the wind beneath my wings.
Fly...fly high against the sky...
Thank you, thank you, thank God for you
The wind beneath my wings
When evening shadows and the stars appear
And there is no one to dry your tears
I could hold you for a million years
To make you feel my love
For Mom--

I cut my hair off last night. It's a relatively short bob with some layering so it's nice and curly and fluffy. I think it looks cute. Rolando, Billy, Mary Grace, Gerard and Rob all said they liked it. Rob actually said it looked awesome. Bill the ups driver gave me a weird look and said, "Why did you cut your hair?" so I assume he didn't like it. I don't think anyone else noticed. Five inches off the length and hardly anyone noticed. Maybe I should have shaved it like I was thinking of doing.

Being impatient, I just crossed over to the Book of Face, and I gotta say, ... so you may want to warn people that it looks so awesome, the impure may burst into flames... or turn into wolves.... either way, you need to get yourself a stick!

It's adorable, Jenn.
Fire Daughter -- Glad you're home.
Magickmaker's home for the summer, too. First thing she did was to start sorting through all the stuff that I'd boxed up and moved here for her. Needless to say, the house is in a total uproar. But I'm good with it, as long as she doesn't bail partway through the project and leave all this stuff strewn around for the rest of the summer....

So I decided although I liked the bob cut, I wanted something less Madonna like a virgin tour and more like Meg Ryan late nineties. I think it's cute. It's shorter than I've had my hair for many years though. I'll post a pic later.
