Results are sent. I hope nobody takes the turn of events badly. It was a very interesting turn. A lot of different things going on which lead to some unexpected outcomes.

Deadline is midnight by the 4th. Please have supporting events posted by the end of the weekend.

About freakin' time something went well!

Seems to have been a pretty big turn for you, Syl. Certainly the most writing I've ever gotten. Thanks for the effort.

So, let me just start by saying that while I'm disappointed with these results, they are totally reasonable. My disappointment is that I didn't realize something which, in hindsight, should have been pretty obvious, and would totally have sent me in a different direction.

I knew there was a king to the city. It just never occured to me that he was a useful king, and that he would be doing things on his own. All of the stuff with us trying to build up a militia was (at least for me... I'll assume the others made the same mistake) because I didn't think there was a standing army already.

So yeah... oops. But, let's learn from our mistakes and move ahead.

More to come in-character.

Excuse me Autarch, I have been mostly AFK since results came out, but I have a couple of questions regarding them.

In my results, and I am assuming repeated in other results, the King said the following to Melody...
The King of the Acropolis wrote:Then during a time of war you crowd my battlements with your silly musicians, a folly that is just beyond my desire to contradict.
Then in the History thread it says...
- Musicians take to the towers, playing songs of fellowship every evening.
This makes a little more sense that it would cause irritation, as my turn did not state the Lucernarium adeste was played nightly, but weekly as a call only to the Sunset Sermons. Would that make a difference in his attitude towards the call being played at all?

Hmm. I see that you did say weekly, though it was only mentioned once while the time of day was specific and you compared it to the Adhan, which is five times a day. Your submission did not make mention of Sunset Sermons, but rather 'all who are interested.'

I wouldn't worry about his attitude, considering what he said. Once or seven times a week probably doesn't make much of a difference.

OK, I'm back.

Having had some time to think, I'm going to have to remove the bulk of non-DSP action. I thought I'd made it clear, and I would've thought the last turn really would've driven it home, what non-DSP stuff is good for. Flavor. Amusement.

It's not meant to drive the game. With the exception of heroes, this is still a divine game. The player who did the best off the last turn took a god-like approach to the problem. Simple, effective burnination. He smote. In my opinion, that's what gods do. Or, at least, stuff like that.

As some of you may have noticed, subtle, detailed stuff just doesn't work with me. Not your fault, but that's just the way it is. I really like what you all are doing there, but some is just too much to keep track of.

So... DSP. Use it, love it. Just keep in mind that something about it has to be magical (effectiveness will likely vary directly with the amount of 'magicalness').

High priests can use their various talents and tools and can have one non-DSP 'adventure' per turn. They can also do one thing that falls under the category of 'running the church.' Delegation and whatnot.

That's it. Be all the god you can be.

Heroes are unchanged. As some of you may already have turns written up (nobody's submitted), I will not penalize for non-DSP action, though you may want to rewrite just to make sure it works out better.

With this change, what is the status of submitting write ups of our non-DSP action to the Tales of the Acropolis thread? If we do both an "adventure" and run our temple(s), must one be written in thread?

Also, is that a limit of one adventure and temple action per deity submission? Or per each High priest a deity has? Would someone with two or more High priests be able to have two non-DSP actions, one for each High priest, and have each High priest be able to do something at each of their temples?

Thanks for any answer.

There won't really be a need for write-ups, so I imagine they'll fade. Too bad, really, but such is life. Of course players are still welcome to use it to enrich the game's atmosphere, but that's it. It won't count in game except to whatever extent players decide between themselves that it does.

I may be a mean bastard (or Basque-ard, as I've taken to call myself), but I wouldn't make you try to run 5 temples with the same amount of resources as 1. 1 per.

Out of curiosity, how easy / difficult is it to move a temple (once invested with our power) to a new location? Or would that depend on the state of the temple? Is the power invested in the entire stone edifice, or just in the alter, which can be moved with only small annoyance (though the new location won't be all stone sculptures, it might also be surrounded by barbarian hordes)? Can a temple be made intentionally mobile (e.g. - a wagon, a palanquin, etc.)?

Why is that twisted evil? I'm thinking Arc of the Covenant, here... march it out in front of the army, before wiping out your enemies.

Or, you know, a bookmobile, travelling from village to village around the city.

A temple can be mobile with the right material and at least 5 DSP. It only functions as a temple when it's stationary, though, and setting it up after moving it and putting it away before are time consuming.

Time consuming in the "entire day" sense, or "a whole season" sense?

In the sense that you couldn't get any use out of it if you moved it more than once a month.

but you could move it, set it up, and then use it in a turn?

Not to mention additional DRP to turn an artifact in to a temple, and even further DRP to build the Ark or whatever is used to protect it as it is transported.

And...
The Autarch wrote:...and setting it up after moving it and putting it away before are time consuming.
My understanding is detailed ritual for both is expected for it to work.

...If I am recalling correctly what I was told when I asked the same thing several turns ago. ;)

hmm...
Will need to recheck messages, but I am pretty sure this was included in what I was told. For me, I just couldn't imagine needing to relocate the portable temple I have planned more than once a turn/month. Like our divine artifacts, I imagine overuse would reduce efficacy.
