I think that's about all the clue you need to figure that one out. No one else is shrieking in pain. Hmmm. Maybe you should attempt to communicate with it. ;)
Forgive me for pulling an ~OoC~ comment in to the game thread, Syl.
Unfortunately, it seems to be an acceptable manner of play... :(
...and yes, I know. Nothing I say regarding Pantheon is ever considered ~OoC~ by a certain player...

I'd prefer if you changed it. It's literally out of character for Simjen.
"It is not the literal past that rules us, save, possibly, in a biological sense. It is images of the past. Each new historical era mirrors itself in the picture and active mythology of its past or of a past borrowed from other cultures. It tests its sense of identity, of regress or new achievement against that past.”

Then I will delete it, as I literally have no idea how to rephrase.

But, that led me to think of something to add to the post as is as well. So the "quote" from Simjen and my response to that is now gone, but another "musing" has been added.

And again, my inability at banter is tripping me up.
I'll just have cho shut up for now...

I did it because YOU agreed that I should lead. Well, I am. And I'm going to use Game discussion to do so, even if said discussion is not in the Game thread. This is clearly Game stuff. Either talk about it there, or don't talk about it. In public, anyway. It's... is disengenuous the right word?... to try to get Game info in the Comments thread.

So I guess we're ignoring the fact that it said the armies of the Maw had found a way into Eiran? That very strongly suggests not that they might be using said hole to enter, but that they already are. Why are we reacting to it like a hole to be plugged, and not as an invasion?

Note: This is intended as meta-commentary, not part of the in-game planning.

Doesn't look quite that way to me:
The AllFather wrote:A group of adventurers accidentally find and widen a crack in the Icewalls of the Maw. The crack grows wider due to their interference, and soon grasping hands and inhuman eyes attempt to find a way through into the world, befouling and corrupting all they touch. A group of fishermen are passing nearby when these scaly, grasping hands grab the unlucky adventurers, bathing them in a blinding dark light, their screams reaching the stars. The fishermen flee, bringing word with them that the hordes of the Maw have finally found a way into Eiran!
Despite the last sentence, looks like they're about to break through.
All lies and jest
Still a man hears what he wants to hear
And disregards the rest

Consider the source;
Who are bringing us this tale?
It's a fish story!

Exaggerated
And blown out of proportion
In all likelihood

Z says Cho's got it
Why not just leave it to her?
Hey, what could go wrong?

...thank you so much for those encouraging words, DPJ. :|
Fist and Faith wrote:Despite the last sentence, looks like they're about to break through.
*nodding*

Both outlooks have merit. I am hoping what cho plans on attempting at The Maw will cover both possibilities.
...without backfiring for once. *wince*

cho posted in the court that the planned action in The Maw was her's, Murrin, and asked to be contacted if any courtmate wanted details. So far, only one responded. And I tried to keep it quiet outside of the court that it was cho taking this on. I have learned to fear interference at this point...

But, I do disagree with what was posted in the Game thread. Unless there is power being donated I don't know about yet, this plan can definitely use help...

cho should understand
It is not that I doubt her
But fate's been unkind

Good intentions pave
Her path wherever she goes
(Insert cliché here)

Behind the scenes lurk
Decision-making forces
To warp her intent

Her choices conduce
To ends and plans unstated
Whatever she does
Yes, I am an alt
Whose? An open secret to
Attentive Watchers

and again...

*sigh*

DPJ, that strikes very close to home.
...even in regards to cho's attempt at contacting TWB last Age.

The atmosphere is getting rather unpleasant in here, starting to feel a bit like the Tank.

So I'll be brief.

Has anyone ever, in P1 P2 or P3, spent power on trying to find an answer to a problem and actually got an answer (as opposed to spending the power on a solution that's worked)?

I worry about the power that's been spent/donated(wasted?) on such.

That's a good point, Stone!
I don't know the history
Well enough to say

I strongly suspect
No reliable answer
Has ever come forth

The source of answers
Serves only its agenda
And stacks the card deck

...and yet.

Attempts at fixing or resolving problems without information about them first have failed or backfired. Xar posted that someone this last season made a valid attempt at something, but it was based on misinformation or misunderstanding, or something and was not successful. So, power can be "wasted" taking either approach, nu?

But have you ever spent power trying to find an answer to a problem and got one?

Yeah, over time and with continual expenditure, occasionally answers or related information has come to me in unexpected ways. Such as a "vision" Raucous unexpectedly had once. It was extremely helpful in answering questions regarding the Ash Lich himself, and possibly the other Ash Liches currently in command of the Midnight Armies.

Based on what information I was given concerning what a "lich" was, as I had no idea when I first was confronted with him, I spent power looking for his "soul" and kept coming up empty. I continued to devote power to the search though, and eventually Raucous was given his vision. Upon consultation with another, we determined the "Ash" is what made him immune to all magic, arcane AND divine.

It took a long time and quite a bit of DRP to get any sort of result regarding it, but it did lead me to a way of destroying him, even if his destruction led to other unforeseen circumstances...

Go do a search for the "dead" version of him, Stone. ;)
That might make more sense once you've seen where he posted.

I've researched things several times. IME, it only does any good if you do it in the flesh (two doors and a trip into the mists prove it for me). Otherwise, you really have to know what you're looking for, but if you do, why bother? Questions only beget more questions. Either wait and see if it's really important or implement a prudent plan of action.
