Looking For a Film: help please

Post by lucimay »

i was looking for a particular film last night and couldn't, for the life of me, remember any names of actors nor director nor much about it at all but i remember seeing bits of trailer and thinking it looked good.
maybe one of ya'll flickheads will be able to help me figure out what it was? (crosses fingers)

all i remember was that it was about a kid, adolescent age, who has a friend who either disappears or is killed and he goes looking for the friend or the killer of the friend. seems like it's been in the last year that i saw the trailer. i thought of it last night because i thought it might, by this time, be watchable intantly from netflix, if that gives you any idea about the time frame. i'm pretty sure it was a 2009 released film and it seems like it was made by a director that i like, possibly indie director like gus van sant or somebody like that (already looked at gus's films and couldn't find it there.)
also part of the press stuff about the film was that it had a kid "detective".
seems like people were talking about that aspect of it as a kind of interesting spin on the detective genre.
i also remember that the kid in it was someone whose name i knew, and i don't know that many kid actors so its gotta be somebody noteworthy but i can't think who.

anyway, if any of this looks familiar to any of you, give a holler cause it's buggin me now!! lol!!

i've had this with actors before, on the set,
where they get upset about the [size of my]
trailer, and i'm always like...take my trailer,
cause... i'm from Kentucky
and that's not what we brag about.

Brick? "A teenage loner pushes his way into the underworld of a high school crime ring to investigate the disappearance of his ex-girlfriend." Stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt from 3rd Rock. 2005 tho.

Heh. Sometimes I'm lucky. I pulled that one out of thin air.

The trailer did make me want to see it as well. Never did tho. But I think being in the same position as you helped me remember it.

oh and you know what, i think the reason i never did see it was because when i realized (some synopsis or something tipped me off i guess) that there was drug stuff involved in the plot line, i think i steered away from seeing it. sometimes i just cannot watch people in drug induced misery, i never saw Requiem for a Dream for the same reason. i just did not want to watch.
i guess that comes from having to watch in real life huh. :(
