I watched this on Netflix for the first time. Very good. It appears they are filming the movie as we speak. Due to be released in 2012. Same cast.

I hope the movie is as good as the show. Definitely looking forward to it.

Actually, it looks like it really is to be, but has not started filming yet, from the look of it.

I can't wait.

We also might have to recast the part of Uncle Mel, the former action movie star. But other than that we have a clear path.
I remember Uncle Jack, the old exercise-Jack-LaLanne-like character played by Martin Short. Who was uncle Mel? I don't remember this guy.

I'm guessing Mel Gibson, and that it is a joke.

Has anyone seen the Netflix 4th season? If you're a fan of the show and haven't seen this, you're missing a real treat.

We got into this late, well after it was cancelled. In fact, this year was the first time I saw more than an episode or two. I never saw the appeal, because it's not really something that you can drop into and fully enjoy. It's PERFECT for Netflix binge-watching. Seeing them all in order and in rapid succession really pays off, since each episode depends so heavily upon in-jokes of previous episodes.

However, season 4 is something special. At first, it's a little hard to get used to everyone being 8 years older. It's distracting, especially when they have flashbacks to explain how the characters got where they were to where they are now. We're supposed to believe that these aged people haven't aged in their "2006" scenes. [Lindsey in particular is quite shocking. She must have had a lot of plastic surgery.]

But once you get past the flashbacks, you slowly begin to realize they're building to an incredibly interconnected story unlike anything they've done before. It won't be obvious at first. In fact, I initially didn't like how they focused on a single character per episode; I missed the interaction between the full cast, and the fast-paced humor this facilitated. But once you start to see all the connections, the characters come back together more and more.

This is a season that could not have been written one episode at a time. They must have had the entire story nailed down in detail before filming the first shot. It's that complex. Highly recommended. Oh ... and hilarious. We're nearing the end, but so far my favorite has been the GOB episode (church magic trick).

Season 4 was great. The wife and I tore through it in a weekend, and it really pays to watch it quickly.

I watched this show on Netflix in January, and it really is great. The fourth season is a little slow to start, and it takes some time before the timeline of the whole thing makes sense, but the way it builds up over the course of the season is excellent. I really liked how they would revisit the same scenes over and over adding a little bit each time, sometimes totally changing the context of earlier interactions.
Spoiler
Like when you finally find out the last family gathering, where Michael told them all he was leaving again (one of the first scenes of the season), was actually supposed to be a party for George Michael that Michael highjacked to go off on his rant.

So, it was announced only a couple of days ago, and today Netflix released Arrested Development Season 4 Remix - a re-edit of the fourth season, putting it in chronological order and into 22 shorter episodes, matching the format of the first three seasons. I'm very interested in what that does to the show (see my post above on the way the original format of S4 worked for me), so I've started rewatching from the beginning. I'm going to watch all four seasons and then the Remix.

And then season 5 is coming.
