Lousy Commercials

Post by 3rd warrior on the left »

Just having a bit of a rant!

Is there any one particular commercial, or type of commercial that really gets on your nerves?

With me, its cosmetics ads, the never-ending stream of additives "bullsh*tium enriched with boll*cksite, with improved 'highlyironic acid'" or whatever it is. They've tried animal products, gone through the vegitable kingdom (fruit acids galore) and now..."with minerals"...that'll be rocks then!

But the one that had me jumping up and down, shouting at the TV, I think it was for a skin cream, had the first line "Too busy to breath?..." Too busy to breath.. you'll be dead then!!...rant...rave :x ...stomp around the room. (Co-incidentally the guy in the flat below moved out a couple of weeks later, no idea why)

But why..Oh why do you seem to get most of the them during 'military day on the History Channel', and similar steriotypical blokes TV. Is there some weird reverse psychology going on here?

Enough of that I can feel my blood pressure rising, I'm going to listen to a bit of mood music (Dark Tranquility :R )
I said to myself "I cannot possibly believe that", and as I was saying it I noticed I had already believed it a second time. - Lichtenberg

Commercials for "erectile disfunction" pills!
Not just for the fact that they are stupid commercials that would kill anybody's boner just to look at. But for the fact that they had to invent a new word for impotence so as to sell their garbage!
I hate the term "ED" because when I was in high school I was in special ed for "ED," which at the time stood for "Emotionally Disturbed."
I looked on the term as a badge of honor, actually.

Also I hate with a passion the commercial for a car that suggested it would make a great christmas gift... I still can't understand how anyone could afford a new car, or who would want to since you can buy a used car that is just as good for more than half the price in most cases... but as a present?
I'm sure some people can afford this, but are there really enough of them to justify a commercial?
