Thunderstorm of Emotion

Post by Dani »

I had a whole lot of fun writing this, though I'm not sure how enjoyable it will be to read. I've always loved thunderstorms, and I spent one afternoon imagining myself as one (while I was working, of course) and this free verse poem was the result.

THUNDERSTORM OF EMOTION

Look to the East to see my shadow darkening the horizon
Gaze into the depths of my seething, roiling, chaotic soul
Here the thundering claps portending my presence amongst you
I come to revel, I come to play,
I come to pleasure but not to stay
Those of faint heart and weak knees will flee before me
Quivering and hiding in abject terror of my tumultuous display
You, however, will taste the kiss of the wind upon your lips
Smell the tangy exhilaration of the air
Feel the electrifying flush of my proximity…
and you will come to dance beneath me
The dryness of your desert calls to me…wants me…needs me
I am full to bursting with the throbbing potency of life
I clutch it barely contained within me
When the harsh light of the sun is finally blocked by my provocative darkness
I will release that which is in me
Let my wetness roll down your skin
Taste the sweetness on your tongue
Let your eyes widen in startled delight at my flashing fluctuating strikes
Let your body thrum in tune with my thunderous rumbling vibrations
Let me wash way the grit and grime of your dull and dreary everyday life
and remind you of the sparkle and glimmer of what is hidden underneath
Then sit back and savor the sensation
of such an ephemeral refreshment

That was very cool, Dani. You paint a vivid and energetic picture. I liked it very much. :-)

Pretty cool! :D I particularly like this bit:

I myself write little poetry, but I loved this poem. Powerful and emotive, it seemed to personify the power of the storm. I've got goose-bumps!

"Mostly muffins sir."- My answer in response to the question posed by the officer, "Son, do you have anything on you I should know about?"

His response: "Holy $&!^. He's not kidding! Look at all these muffins!"

I really enjoyed it...and actually found it to be somewhat erotic.
