I don't know about the rest of y'all, but I happen to be an Iron Maiden fan (go ahead, gasp in surprise, I'll wait)....
Anywhos, a new album is just about upon us! And a bunch of tour dates, too! I'm excited, as I haven't seen Maiden perform any of their new stuff yet (and probably never will) and just being able to see them again....well, let's just say heaven can wait

That's right... I kinda forgot But for Dream Theater fans, they're suppose to open for Iron Maiden for at least the vast majority of the dates. And if they don't, what's the worse that could happen? You'll just have to hear Lauren Harris for a few songs, and she's not that bad.... she's just not Iron Maiden

Dream Theater - Wasn't a fan going in, still not a fan now. Boring music played by decent musicians.
Maiden - I'm torn here. They put on a phenomenal show. Great stage presence, great sound, great everything. But they didn't play a single song from their "classic" period. In fact, I think the only song they played that was released prior to 1999 was Running Free, which they closed with.
I dunno, I know that they're promoting a new album, and I know that they're still considered a current act pretty much everywhere else in the world, but would it have killed them to mix in a few of the older songs?

What about Fear of the Dark, Iron Maiden, Number of the Beast, and Hallowed be the Name (and, I almost forgot, Wrathchild)?
I think they did what they did because they just did a tour of nothing but their classics (which I also went to, and it was PHENOMANAL. Don't blame you for wanting to hear it ). This gave them a different show for themselves and those who had seen the previous tour...

Sorry, they did play Fear of the Dark. None of those others though.

Mmmmmm Iron Maiden are great live, and I did get to their last show in Melbourne (the only time they've toured here since 1983) and it was brilliant. That tour they played all their classics from the first 15 years or so. So with that in mind I'd like to see a lot more of their recent stuff performed.. If I had the chance I'd love to see songs from ALL the more recent albums - from Virtual XI all the way through to the newest album.
Forgive my death.
It was my flesh that failed you, not my love.

Wow...that's odd...I can see why you're torn on the experience. I wonder what the deal was?

I imagine after the album comes out, they'll do a more extensive world tour. What they're doing right now is namely North America and some of Europe, I mean, they're not playing in Mexico or any of the South American countries!

"El Dorado" is a good song. Based on their performance, I'll give the album a shot.

They're going to be in Oz in February.
I finally got The Final Frontier. It's good. It's somewhat a let down given how awesome BNW, DoD, and AMoLaD are, but I think it's gonna grow on me.

AMoLaD had to grow on me a little, but now I love it! And it's true, BNW and DoD were just amazing, but I got into the Final Frontier pretty quick. Jury's still out on the song "The Alchemist", but the rest? Amazing, I say!

"When the Wild Wind Blows" is nothing short of a revelation. The fact that a band that's been around for 30 years can come out with something like that is just staggering.
I hate to say it, but post-2000 Maiden just blows away the earlier stuff.

That song seriously gave me goosebumps the first few times I heard it. Always a fan of the Steve Harris epic
