Well, I think Pier Giorgio is still floating about New England somewhere, tipping cows and drinking cider and trying to get thayah from heeyah. And so that's why he hasn't chimed in yet. But I thought perhaps someone should say something by now ...
Xar-fest '10 did happen. Erin (Brinn), Pier Giorgio (Xar), and I met up at the Grill, where many a raw oyster then met their doom. We discussed world travel and being a biologist and books. Erin never once mentioned modern monetary theory, but he demonstrated it nicely by paying for our dinner. On the other hand, Pier Giorgio did demonstrate the cybernetic tail he developed in his lab, in a way that the waitress will probably never forget.

Maybe we can get a re-enactment out of him while he's in New York!wayfriend wrote:On the other hand, Pier Giorgio did demonstrate the cybernetic tail he developed in his lab, in a way that the waitress will probably never forget.

Damn. Sorry I missed it. But like I predicted, getting away from the house is a once in a blue moon occurrence for me.

War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself. No hard feelings.

Oh hooray! Wasn't 100% sure if you were coming Friday or not.Fist and Faith wrote:I don't know the train schedule, so I can't be exact, but I'll arrive at GCS between 9 and 10 Friday morning. I'll go right to Xar's hotel.
I'm taking the tres cheap bus from DC up to NYC Thursday night, and staying at lorin's overnight. Just got a reassurance from her today via Facebook that she is indeed going to pick me up at the bus stop.

I got back an hour or so ago. Had a fantastic time hanging out with aliantha, lorin, Menolly, and Xar. lorin is a new name for me to add to my list, and I'm thoroughly delighted to do so. She's every bit as great a person in rl as she is here.

Ditto to what Fist said. Great time yesterday with the guys. We walked around Manhattan, spotted Vincent D'Onofrio (sp?) at Borders, and stumbled across a great Turkish restaurant for lunch. Then Fist wanted dessert, so we walked to Grand Central Station to find a bakery. Photographic evidence of the results to come, if it hasn't already been posted in the album.
And another great time today with lorin and Menolly. Lorin and Helldog introduced me to the wonders of Sandy Hook National Park this morning. Then we drove into the city and saw "Time Stands Still" with Laura Linney, Eric Bogosian, Christina Ricci, and another actor who has apparently only done theater so I didn't recognize him. Anyway, then we had great Chinese food. And now I'm back on the cheap bus and headed home.
Fist, I got your text late last night but my phone died. I'll have to check out your suggestion when I get home..
