Yes, I was halfway to Boston last weekend when I realized that I had forgotten mine. So we made Xar take pictures and promise to post them.aliantha wrote:...left my camera at home...But I'm sure somebody will have one.

fall far and well Pilots!
Had two job offers back in January, in the same day. Went with one of them. Had a three month informal review in April where I asked if they were happy with me (heads nodded), if there was anything I needed to correct/fix, etc. (heads shook). Two months months later, they ask me to leave (with severance; small, but then after five months what do you expect)
Skip to today. Company number 2 (from January) had another position open and offered me the position today with the same numbers as the offer I did not take in January. Soooo, I start work Monday. No commuting to downtown, I work from home, occasional travel.
So, I feel relieved. And good.

Today I feel elated.
I quit my job after telling off the boss, which felt REAL good.
He deserved it.
He's been an A**-HOLE since day one towards my co-worker and I because we don't bow and kneel before him.
(I hate a**-kissers)
He thinks that he can tell everyone how to live their lives outside of work and that he is God or something.
I was "wrote-up" after the first two weeks working there because he "didn't like my attitude" when I asked about why things were being done over 2-3 times over.
I made a suggestion as to increasing productivity in less time, (just a suggestion mind you) and he blew a gasket and accused me of trying to "undermind" him.
Several little comments and glares were to follow-up in the following 2 or 3 weeks from him.
Last night, when he was leaving, he locked the parking lot gates, thus locking us in with our vehicles and he know damned well that he has the only key.
(Nothing that a cutting torch couldn't handle to cut a link out of the chain)
Tonight, he yelled at my co-worker for going to the restroom and demanded that from now on, we clock-out for restroom uses or if we leave our areas.
And got wrote-up again for "destroying" company property (The link in the chain) and told us that the cost will be taken out of our paychecks.
We were told that $25 EACH to replace the chain. (The same chain is being used, just one link shorter)
There are only the two of us that work there at night and our load is just as much as that given to the four people who work in that department during the daytime.
Enough was enough and both of us told the boss where he could stick things and what to do with them.
And we didn't raise our voices or say things in an angry manner.
The boss didn't want us to leave untill all the work was done, and then continued to threaten to dock an hour's pay if we left.
More was being shouted at us, but I didn't hear what it was because we were already going out the door.
Poor little sucker will have to close up shop and shut down the machinery before he leaves, if he knows how.
The best part will be him trying to explain to the owner why there is no longer a night crew.
Work will be backing-up until some other suckers are hired.

Eighteen months after being "Chased" out of my job when the FDIC gave the bank I worked for to JP Morgan Chase in order to stampede the Congress into passing TARP...and six months after I walked away from a new job that almost destroyed my family, I finally landed what I believe is the position that just might keep me busy for the decade-and-a-half before I retire.
New gig is with Microsoft. Heh! I interviewed with them in 1980, before anyone knew who they were. Seemed a scruffy bunch and I did not take them too seriously. Imagine, if you will, what things would be like if I had gotten that job. I would be retired and have enough money to buy an island somewhere...
Oh, well. Rear-view mirror. At least I have a new job!
I am told by my sister inlaw stay away from the BIG BILL. He is apparently quite cuckoo.

That is awesome Cheval! Good luck in finding a new job. It will be worth it! I have a boss who I despise and am in a similar situation, but have not had the courage to leave yet. I am glad you stood up for yourself and your co-worker.
Hopefully things at your next job will be better.

Tired after a late and strange night. We played a gig in a tent outside a bar, and the organisation by the bar owner left a lot to be desired. Besides, it was raining like crazy, water was pouring down on one side of the stage, and there was hardly any room for the sound people.
I was drenched, one of my shoes was filled with water, it was chilly and there was water everywhere. The whole thing was nearly cancelled when noone wanted to take responsibility for possible damage to the PA equipment, but in the end we worked it out and decided to play anyway, and the gig was excellent. The crowd loved it and the bar owner wants to book us again for next year.
Many of our gigs are private (weddings and such), so a public performance is a good way to get your name out there and hopefully get some bookings. It would have been a shame if it'd been cancelled, but this was probably the weirdest and most chaotic gig I ever played.

School has been fantastic so far. I was able the challenge out of some classes to add more classes and if all goes to plan, instead of ending the year as a Junior, I'll end it as a mid term Senior. And that's even after taking spring semester 2010 off. I really want to get to graduate school as soon as possible.
Home this weekend and will be coming back the weekend of the 10th (Mom's birthday). It's so nice to be here...

When evening shadows and the stars appear
And there is no one to dry your tears
I could hold you for a million years
To make you feel my love
For Mom--
Did you ever know that you're my hero,
and everything I would like to be?
I can fly higher than an eagle,
for you are the wind beneath my wings.
Fly...fly high against the sky...
Thank you, thank you, thank God for you

Congrats and good luck to all the job changers. (The economy must be picking up, if people are feeling more comfortable about changing jobs. That's good news, in and of itself.

Sugar and caffeine, yeah. He was downing both at a record rate on Friday.danlo wrote:Have fun guys! (remember to feed Fist lots of ice cream and cinnamon rolls-sugar seems to tame Haruchais, for some odd reason)

My wife and I talked about "the next job" and desided to do what we were going to do earlier this year:ur-bane wrote:That is awesome Cheval! Good luck in finding a new job. It will be worth it! Take the rest of the year off and enjoy ourselves.
Her lotto winnings earlier this year from the scratch-off ticket (Posted in The Summonsing/Going Away For A While) will cover for lost wages.
First stop - Disney World for a 4-day weekend, starting the second week of October.
That will be our birthday gifts to each other. (Mine is the 6th and hers is on the 20th)
Then we are off to Geogia and Ohio to visit relatives for about 2-3 weeks.
And then, we are going to have one great Christmas for the kids and grandkids.
We never had the money before-hand to get much for them.
Sometime soon, a cruise may be taken also.
Yeah, that's a joke in Florida. The news keeps telling everyone how many more people are losing jobs here.aliantha wrote:Congrats and good luck to all the job changers. (The economy must be picking up, if people are feeling more comfortable about changing jobs. That's good news, in and of itself.)

What is it about f*ck knuckle bosses? Fortunately I've never had too many problems with my bosses. Now I'm my own boss, thankfully!
Good job Cheval!
I spent the day at the park and the beach with the kids on the weekend, which was relaxing. Work is hectic, life is hectic. The beach is good!

I've stolen Aliantha's identity! Mayhem! Dirty words! Quick to the tank to rile up the nutters with some insane off color and off subject annoyances!

What a great weekend! Now, however, I'm exhausted....
Driving back from the airport, I noticed that the leaves are starting to change. Wow, summer's gone and fall is here. And the release of AATE is just three weeks away!
