Jenn, if the universe attacks you so much, it's only because it's really afraid of you. You do so much good just in your communications here on the Watch, I think I'd be dumbfounded to see you in action outside of it.
We're all cheering for you! And if that weren't enough, here's one of them rare Orlion hugs
. Legend says that any normal person would be destroyed by such a hug, but I'm sure you can handle it

Wow, Jenn!
Good for you, fighting off your attacker.
When (and if) you think it would be cathartic, share your story. Until then, know that your community is here for you...and remember the excellent advice Wayfriend quoted above.

It all happened so fast I'm not even sure what happened exactly. A cracked out tweaker white guy tried to steal my bag and he hit me in the face and I sprayed all over blindly with pepper spray until he let go and then I ran like hell. I have a slight black eye that is fading rapidly although there are no marks on my eyebrow bone and cheek bone but they are the most sore part of that. My asscheeks, thighs and calves, face it, every muscle from my lower back to entire legs are sore as hell from running like the devil was at my heels. I literally crawl to the bathroom to the shower and get the hot water running to loosen them up enough to stand in the morning but he left no permanent marks. I did not file a report because I did NOT get a good look at him at all and it would be impossible for me to id him. I also did not want to have to deal with the interrogation of what happened over and over again and being interrogated as to what I am doing with restricted issue police grade pepper spray in the first place. Sorus has known about it since the morning after it happened and has seen the face bruise and can attest that it's not bad at all. I'm doing much better today. Thanks everyone for the support. You are all equally responsible for jinxing me so tomorrow when I get arrested for pepperspraying some innocent tweaker who just happened to trip and hit me and get caught up on my bag, we will all know who to blame.

Get well soon Jen, and don't let it colour (color) your judgement of everyone else. Every city has it's fair share of assholes and you, unfortunately, were accosted by one of your citys. A strong character like yourself will bounce back from this ( and top up you pepper spray ASAP).
As for me, off to South Africa early sunday morning with the family for brother in laws wedding. 3 weeks of a lot warmer weather than we are getting here at the moment.

I had a weird morning. I was sleeping in and Jorge started knocking on my door and ringing the bell and I was about to yell "Just a minute." when he came in to my apartment so there I am all naked yelling, "What the hell are you doing?" and he's standing there saying, "I'm sorry, I'm sorry." WTF? I still don't even know why he was banging on my door in the first place. How weird and it makes me even more happy about moving. Yeesh. Then I came down to the cafe to do laundry and meet heatherly for lunch and Vince, one of the regulars was hanging out and he asked me if I would look at some pictures from a photo shoot he modelled for last night and so I did and they were nekked pictures. Actually pretty tastefully done so I picked the ones I thought were the best and he was very grateful for my advice.

Have apparently been replaced and demoted, and no one even had the decency to tell me. I say 'apparently' because I can't get a straight answer out of anyone. I don't know if they don't know, can't tell me, or just don't want to be the one to tell me. At any rate, I don't have any idea what's going on, but it's not good. This on top of getting my hours drastically cut because of all the OT I worked back in August - which I was told was 'extra' money, so I used it to pay down my dental bills and am now not making enough to pay rent. Life sucks.

Thanks, but don't worry about it. I'll find out on Monday (maybe) when I can at least talk with my supervisor face-to-face. Though I talked to him yesterday and he didn't tell me anything and said he'd get my schedule fixed though apparently someone else is going to be doing my job. Nothing I can do about it if they want to demote me to a cashier or whatever, though it would be plenty of incentive to look for a new job, especially since I am already looking for a second job.

Hang in there, you two!
My old governor, the helmet haired Rod Blagojevich, once said after the state house defeated one of his proposals 107 - 0, "I'm having an up day!" Well, I can say that for better reason. I passed the test for the Amateur radio license last night, and confirmed that Danlo is coming out here in a couple weeks. It is an up day!

Congrats, Damelon!
Sorus: Hoping it's not as bad as you think it is.
Jenn: Glad you're feeling better.
Gotta take the cat to the vet in a little while for her post-teeth-extraction checkup. At least this visit's included in the price of the extractions.
After that, errands today and a hike tomorrow. Great weather for it all, too. Should be a good weekend.

My youngest sister's soccer team won 3-1 today (and everyone was commenting on how well my sister was playing
), and then we stopped at Culver's for custard on the way to a family party. And my great-aunt purchased a blanket I crocheted (first hand-made item I've sold), so I have some money in my pocket, good memories in my mind, and great food in my belly. Lovely day.

I don't really feel like working today. Oh well. Nothing I can do about it. Gonna finish boxing up my crap this week and hopefully be out of my place by end of day Saturday.

I feel like the universe stuck a big 'Kick Me' sign on my back. Computer totally crashed this morning, and I lost everything I did yesterday. Fortunately I did a full back up on Friday, so all I lost was an entire day of job searching and my updated resume. But I realllly don't feel like starting from scratch again today. If my sanity didn't depend on knowing what's going on with my job I would call in sick tomorrow. Haven't slept in 3 days and am within an inch of having a complete meltdown. And that would be bad, since I need references.

Hang in there, Sorus.
So I sat down last night after dinner to watch "Being John Malkovich", which I had Netflixed due to reviews I saw when it was in theaters. Gods, what a piece of crap -- bailed partway through. Perused my (tiny) personal DVD collection and plugged in the first "Pirates of the Caribbean" movie so I could keep knitting. (Dunno why the kids didn't take those movies with them, but last night I was grateful!) Looked at the clock at the end of the movie and realized it was 2:30am.
Went to bed, but kept waking up because I was supposed to go hiking with a friend this morning. Finally got up, read the paper, had breakfast. My friend showed up and we hit the road for our destination; of course, traffic was horrible, so we bailed out at Occoquan and went shopping in their little historic district instead.
It's a little hilly, for like, a block; as we went up, we kept saying, "This counts as a hike! We're gaining elevation!"
Stayed too long in Occoquan and was consequently late to book club. Realized when I left there that I was totally exhausted -- and, moreover, I hadn't been online at all today. Planning to go to bed early tonight....

Ok, so I stole my mojo back tonight on the street. I was walking home and this dealer/pimp guy with his two friends asks me, "Hey pretty lady, You looking for a party baby? You need something?" and I stopped and looked at him straight in the eye and said, "No." in a loud and offended manner then turned to his buddies and said, "Seriously, do I LOOK like a god damned crack whore?" and then started walking again. One of his buddies said, "No Ma'am you do not." without a trace of ghetto in his accent or manner and then turned on his friend and started saying, "Yo ni----, what the f--- is wrong witchoo? You wanna get us busted dumb ass motherf------ ni----? I know, probably wayyyyy not the smartest thing to do but it felt awesome. I also had pepper spray in one hand and the tazer with safety off in the other and partially free of my pockets.
