Try midnight my time. Which means, of course, that I won't get to log in at all today, so won't be online until after I get home from work tomorrow. Which means I'll have no chance of getting the jump on the big surge in glyph sales for the patch. Bah.

4% complete, 11 days remaining. How in the hell did you all get it downloaded so quickly? I'm pretty sure my computer will explode if I leave it on for 11 days straight.

I'm about 40% and I still have between 18 hours and a day. It says I've got a firewall slowing it down. Don't feel like looking around on how to bypass it.

Yeah, I have the 'your computer appears to be behind a firewall' message, but that's always there. Blizz has full access and I'm not about to turn off my firewall. Really don't think my comp can handle this though - had to do a full system restore just a couple of days ago.

Edit: Switched to 'run as admin,' which took about 3 days off the estimate. Yay.

I figure it's my wireless router slowing things up. It wasn't worth a trip to Best Buy for a longer cable. Still, a watched pot never boils. Or even an unwatched one. It's only 3/4 finished after overnight.

Mine crashed sometime during the night, and while it restarted where it left off, it's still at 4%, 227 hours remaining. It hasn't moved a tick in the last hour, and if it's still at 4% when I get home from work I'm just going to shut it down.

I got mine done around 9:00 pm last night. Kysen Glyphs are crazy 50-70g each and epic gems are outrage as well.

I did notice all my healing weapons still have massive amounts of SP on them like 1000sp on my staff but no intellect not sure if that was intended. I have the same stam and int as I did per patch though which is odd.

It will take me weeks to get everything organized and all my chars redone.

Sorus have you thought about trying a mirror download site several are up might move faster.

Irv we might need to try and convert corvyn to the alliance I know we are going to be so busy that side not any real time to play horde he will be left all alone

he is already on alliance. corvyn is his only horde toon.
he is in Fellowship of the Light on his warrior Mythrynn (or something
like that) and his dk Blieddudd (pronounced blee eye thuth) and
also has a couple of other 80s besides the dk and the warrior i
think. so yeah...what we have to do is when we start raiding
again we'll have to include him on some of the raids and try to
recruit him. :D cause from what i can tell he's not only a pretty
stand up kinda guy (honest and drama-free) but also a pretty
good player and knowledgeable about the game. i take it he's
been playing a pretty long time. his wife plays those detective
puzzle games.

i've had this with actors before, on the set,

The background downloader's been active for a few weeks. I occasionally left it running for an hour or two, and let it finish over the weekend. I think that put me at 4.70 out of 4.76 Gb, plus the small patch you get from the launcher after installation.

I have a pretty average broadband connection - 4Mbps. It tends to download WoW stuff at about 200kbps, so the 4.75Gb patch took maybe 6-8 hours overall.

Oh, and the download rates on the blizzard downloader are abysmal if you turn off P2P. Not sure about patch-day, but on the background download the direct HTTP download strem would cap at 64kbps if I turned off P2P, and go up over 100kbps if I left it on, even ignoring the little extra I was getting from the peer downloads. I expect it's Blizzard's way of making sure that the strain is shared across users and not all on its own servers.

Kell - spellpower on weapons is intended, they're going to use it so that weapons are just as big an upgrade for casters as they are for melee.

I've never had much luck with mirror download sites. At this point I'm willing to try almost anything, but I don't know which sites can be trusted.

Also have no idea how to change P2P settings. [edit: found the little tab in the download window and it's already on]

At 6% and very frustrated.

Am trying a mirror download on my laptop from 'AtomicGamer.com,' which has a green rating from McAfee. Anyone familiar with the site or can recommend a better one? Really don't want to get it working and get hacked overnight. :?

Mirror site doesn't seem to be working anyway. It gave an estimate of an hour and twenty minutes when I started the download, but after an hour the estimate is an hour and eighteen minutes, and it's at 1%.

Been all over the forums looking for help. Found a bunch of other people with the same router and same issues, but no solutions. One person did recommend disabling P2P, so I'm giving that a try.

Visually stunning in detail down in the old world. I had to reduce the resolution of my screen. (I had it at the highest before) Was getting 7 fps.

Will the fact that I'm only on BC (going to buy WotLK when I get back to NZ soon) make the download slower?

Shouldn't make a difference, only affects what you can access in game.

7% in 48 hours and the forums are full of people bumping their posts and no blue answers. I'm shutting down until someone figures out a solution besides changing my router and provider, since that isn't in my budget this year.

I may take my laptop into work next week and try to download from there... if that fails I may be able to get the files on a disc from someone, but they won't be in the area until next month.

Question though - is this THE big Cata patch, or is there another one coming before the launch?

This patch upgrades the client, introducing all the systems stuff. There will be another patch later with all the world changes before Cata launch.

Yeah, that's what I was afraid of. And that one is probably going to be even bigger. Ugh.

Maybe they will issue a fresh version of Vanilla software with the new old world files?

I think I'm going to take a couple of days off while they debug this and get the add-ons up to speed.

I took my BE pally down to Un'Goro to do a quick quest. I was about to take on one of the elite devilsaurs when I found that the action bar wasn't responding to the number keys. Looking at the bar, I found that there were no numbers on them and in order to get them to respond I had to click the bar with my arrow.

As for add-ons, Auctioneer is the most useful one in the game. It's crippling when it isn't updated in terms of time having to spend in the AH.
