Why oh why do we Brit's have to wait?

Post by jackgiantkiller »

Its bad enough with downloads and ARC's but now we Brit's have to wait 10 long days b4 we get our copy. I don't get why, it makes no practical or financial sense not to release on the same date in the UK as the USA, can anyone explain why, is it the 11th commandment 'thou shall not buy AATE until the yanks have had it for half a score of days!!!!!! :?: :?: :?:

"How do you hurt somebody who has lost everything." Make him wait ten f"&%$^g days until every plot twist worth knowing has been spoilered beyond redemption and like your appitite for a meal you have waited too long for, what you eventually get is too little, too late.

(Actually that's all said with a bit of toung in cheek - having waited something over three decades I'm guessing I can hold out for another 10 days and now is when our moderators can show thier true worth re their stalwart efforts in spoiler censorship!)

uhm...
Not to be picky (much)...

But why, oh why, is this here instead of in The Last Chronicles or General SRD forum?

...sorry...
While y'all have to wait for publishing date, I'm here in the states waiting for a copy to arrive at my public library, and then for my spot on the hold list to come up. I guess I'm a bit disgruntled as well and am getting tired of doing my best to avoid spoilers.

Whew! Thanks, Orlion. I thought for sure the proverbial ruler had smacked my hand for that one. I'm over a hundred pages into it now. Going to take it slower this time. I read the last one in two days and then had to wait the whole three years for the next one. LOL :?
Heard my ears aright? Did not the gaddhi grant me this glaive?

I finally got a chance to pick up my copy last night =)

Only have to wait another three years now....

Linden should have quailed. His certainty was as bitter as the touch of a Raver: it should have defeated her. But it did not. How often had she heard Lord Foul or his servants prophesy destruction, attempting to impose despair? And how often had Thomas Covenant shown her that it was possible to stand upright under the weight of utter hopelessness?

I'll probably be waiting 6 months to a year and a half to get my copy...

Wow! That'll probably be the record - exept maybe for Menolly who's waiting in line to get her copy from her local library (when they eventually get it). Of course the all acheiving master of restraint (boardering on traitorship if he read the final Harry Potter book) was Blackhawk, who at the last sighting had still not read his copy of Fatal Revenant! :whip:

WHAT!? So even though I pre-ordered it I STILL have to wait longer than the release date?

NOT HAPPY
High Lord Mhoram ROCKS! -
But now Mhoram felt the fire which burned against his flesh under his robe. In a rush of exultation, he understood it, grasped its meaning intuitively. As the Stone reached its height over his head, he tore open his robe and grasped Loric's krill.

Its gem blazed like a hot white brazier in his hands. It was charged to overflowing with echoes of wild magic; he could feel its keenness as he gripped its hilt.

It was a weapon strong enough to bear any might.

As a compromise, I'll move this to the "NOT LONG NOW FOLKS" thread, viewing that as the official anticipation thread. Any similar topics started will be moved to that thread.

To restate, this will be the official anticipation thread for AATE. No plot discussions of any of the Last Chronicles, just a place to vent your desire to have the book all ready. At about Nov. 7 or so, when I believe everyone has had a reasonable chance to have gotten the book all ready, I'll lock this thread and opinions about AATE should be directed to that forum.

Thanks, y'all! 8)

Personally, the having gains more quality by the wanting... particularly if the having is pretty good to begin with. 8)
