The Stones haven't put out a decent album since '72, but before that...
I did like Black and Blue. Several memorable songs on that one.

My list
Underrated: Over the Rhine, October Project, Pete Droge, Lisa Mitchell, Nerina Pallot, Eric Burdon

Overrated: Stones, Bret Michaels/Poisson(sp?)...although he is a nice guy, The Kinks (I like some of their songs, but they get put on a pedestal almost as high as Beatles and The Who and they weren't even in the major leagues)

As far as Aerosmith, I always thought there were what they were. A good performing band. Good for teenage boys like me to rock out to, but they never pretended to be "the best band ever".

I don't recall if I talked about Aerosmith before or not. Some I liked, in the same way you seem to, some was pure waste.
BUT: "Rocks" absolutely ROCKS. Must live on everyones Top 10 hard list.
Poison definitely over-rated. Poison is what you get when you take the average of the worst and best of the period and genre.

the hyperbole is a beauty...for we are then allowed to say a little more than the truth...and language is more efficient when it goes beyond reality than when it stops short of it.

I agree, Rocks was my favorite of theirs.

Echo and the Bunnymen are probably the most underrated band I can think of, particularly their work on "flowers" and "siberia."

I quit buying Echo & the Bunnymen cd's after Reverberation, because I couldn't get into their new singer. Recently I bought a 2001 dvd and found out that Ian McCulloch came back after that, but I haven't bought any of the newer cd's yet.....but yes, definitely an underrated band.

I remember at school, a friend who was an Echo-fanatic kept buying bootleg concert tapes- never could understand it.

Then (a few years ago) I bought their 'live in liverpool' CD and seen them a couple of times play at festivals. They know how to perform!
