What's your favorite version of it? Personally, I favor Marvin Gaye's, at the 1983 NBA All-Star Game.

Carl Lewis' is even worse. :P

Jimi at Woodstock is over rated, so is Jose Feliciano's at the '68 world series.

I am SO not a Whitney fan, but her rendition at the Super Bowl about 13 years ago was superb.

As is the way the hockey crowd cheers deliriously in Chicago.

The hockey crowd in Chicago was better in the old Stadium than now in the UC. :) Having been to a few games there, it was amazing.

The Jamie Kennedy version... from the Jamie Kennedy Experience. It was great watching people's faces as he stood there singing all the verses.... not that most people know there's more than what you hear at ballgames.
"It is not the literal past that rules us, save, possibly, in a biological sense. It is images of the past. Each new historical era mirrors itself in the picture and active mythology of its past or of a past borrowed from other cultures. It tests its sense of identity, of regress or new achievement against that past.”

Yeah, I have no idea why they booed him at the beginning. Some people try to do it over the top and hold their voice for so long it's ridiculous, but Ruben didn't go crazy like that. Jessica Simpson is an example of what not to do.

I also thought that Rueben did a pretty good job.

I guess, with the game being in Philly, they'd boo about anyone for fun. :)
