Just want to say... when I just compared pornography to cooking in the Close, I was thinking of this thread

My apologies... cooking isn't like pornography, but pictures like pizza hamburger bacon sandwiches could be said to be pornographic.Menolly wrote:...uhm.Orlion wrote:Just want to say... when I just compared pornography to cooking in the Close, I was thinking of this thread

I was responding to a CS Lewis quote that compared strip clubs to watching a presentation of a dinner dish. The aim was to say that watching such a presentation would be silly. I argued it was quite common, particularly among cooking afficionados to get inspiration or knowledge of how to cook and present a dish... something like that anyway

This past weekend I went with a group that traveled and completed the Kentucky Bourbon Trail. This is a highly recommended activity. We did 7 distilleries in 2 days, 6 from the trail, + a bonus (Buffalo Trace). Great fun!

Smoked turkey and sugar-cured baked Virginia ham on toast points, smothered in Mornay sauce and melted cheddar cheese, topped with bacon and tomato.

"It is not the literal past that rules us, save, possibly, in a biological sense. It is images of the past. Each new historical era mirrors itself in the picture and active mythology of its past or of a past borrowed from other cultures. It tests its sense of identity, of regress or new achievement against that past.”

I came across this via Jones Dairy Farm on Facebook:
Cooking Channel's Bacon Chocolate Chip Cookies
The appeal of the sweet and smoky flavor combination is becoming more and more tantalizing as the day goes on. I may just succumb and attempt these by Boxing Day...

You'll gain 50lbs just by looking at it.
I was interested until the shrimp part.
I don't really want to taste shrimp as I eat ham, cheese, bacon and egg pizza.
Arghgh....i just threw up a little.

Behold the Bacon Pig [link]

Cantwell crafted a pig entirely out of pork as a Thanksgiving appetizer. "Pork E. Pigskin," as he was dubbed, had hot links for legs, a sausage body, ham ears, Vienna sausage nose, a pork rind tail and a bacon wrap.

1) As far as I know, I am not related to this guy.
2) An appetizer for Thanksgiving? Really? Show of hands: who puts out an appetizer before Thanksgiving dinner?
Now Christmas, okay -- I'll put out a container of Wispride and some crackers, and y'all have at it. But for Thanksgiving, why would you want to fill up *before* the meal?

Well, 51% of the people who have voted on Bacon Pig voted "Yes! The meal isn't right without it and I love it."aliantha wrote:2) An appetizer for Thanksgiving? Really? Show of hands: who puts out an appetizer before Thanksgiving dinner?
Not right before dinner, but we like to have some fresh made cinamon buns and coffee while we watch parades, and then later we'll skip a real lunch and have crudités, cheese, grapes, etc. Then eat bird at about 3.
