The 10 Most Irreplaceable Performances in Comedy Films

Post by Cail »

According to Cracked.
No movie has ever been rescued harder than Eddie Murphy rescued The Golden Child. It's the story of The Chosen One entering a secret world of Tibetan mysticism to rescue a magic boy (played by a girl). The Golden Child script is so simple and racist that its daughter married a black man just to piss it off. Obese people make up better stories when their doctor asks them what they've been eating. The special effects are embarrassing enough to make modeling clay suicidal, and there are more clever plot twists on a dildo's storage instructions. The Golden Child is more disrespectful to Tibet than the People's Liberation Army of China.

Alan Rickman in Galaxy Quest and Leslie Nielsen in Airplane are my favorites.

HUUUGE love for Leslie Nielsen in Airplane - sublime buffoonery with a deadpan delivery. He'll be much missed. Lloyd Bridges was damn funny in the same movie....

Michael Keaton's manic performance in Night Shift.

I was going to mention that, because it was such a forgettable film, but I think the first time I saw MK and he made quite an impression.

Rowan Atkinson in Mr Bean's Holiday (even if you hate Mr Bean, give this a chance!)

All-time #1 would have to be: Belushi and Aykroyd in The Blues Brothers

The cast of Fear Of A Black Hat. The three leads are just perfect, encapturing a lot of the rap scene of the time. Especially impressive is Larry B Scott who played Lamar Latrelle in the Revenge of the Nerds movie on to playing such a badass. It took me a very long time to realize it was the same guy.
I also really liked the manager they had through the majority of the film, and even Kurt Loder gets a good moment or two just being himself.

Not getting it here. Are we looking for comrdic performances that have rescued films that would otherwise have been complete shit no matter who had taken the role that the said comedian took..........(deep breath)......... or just great comedic performances per se.

Seems from the article that it's great comedy performances that, if they had been done by anyone else, would have been terrible.

If THAT actor in THAT role in THAT movie did not happen, the movie would not have been the same, whether it sucked or not.

Kevin Kline in A Fish Called Wanda. Probably would have been a good movie without him, but he made it into something extraordinary.

The catholic church is the largest pro-pedophillia group in the world, and every member of it is guilty of supporting the rape of children, the ensuing protection of the rapists, and the continuing suffering of the victims.
