THE KING'S SPEECH

Post by Usivius »

Not sure how many people will want to see this (especially in the US), but this is really a wonderful 'small' movie. I can't say enough about this. Although the story is a little scued historically, it nevertheless grinds all the major points in to a truly moving story.
And the actors! Geez, what a great group, top to bottom. My only quibble was in the portrayal of Churchill.
And the director (never heard of him before) has a wonderful eye for where to place the camera and framing. Very refreshing.

Anyone interested in what will be up for many Oscars this year will have to add this to their list, and anyone who just enjoys 'movies'...

9 out of 10.

Why won't we want to see it? What do you have against Americans? Racist!

BTW, it's 'skewed'.

Hmm, the story of George VI? Not something I would have considered, but I might have a watch. IMDB says Helena Bonham Carter's in it. Might be refreshing to see her in something not Tim Burton-related for once.

Colin Firth won best actor at the Golden Globes tonight. Guess I'll have to see this.

Apparently I'm seeing this on Saturday. There's some conflict within the group as to whether we should see King's Speech or Black Swan. The Black Swan lobby is larger, but the King's Speech lobby is more vocal.

Saw it. Reviewed it even at my blog. Wonderful movie. I'm amused some people are criticizing it for not accurately portraying things that don't happen on film because they aren't part of the story. Think about that for a second!

BTW, Helena Bonham Carter had a wonderful career before and after she hooked up with Burton.
