If I develop an eating disorder and get a second job, I should be good to pay for this by spring. May as well start now. Food is dumb and Watchers are not. It's a very obvious decision I have before me.
(In other words- I'm looking at getting a second job anyway. I'm a maybe baby.
If you all haven't forgotten about me, that is.)

Well, spring is here. As I said in the beer thread: I'm having a hard time deciding what to do about the camping trip. Planning a camping trip months or even weeks in advance is very difficult, because of weather. If it rains that weekend, it will really suck. Sitting in separate, damp tents isn't really the best way to get to know one another. I guess I'm just dreading making the decision, and then have it turn out to be a the wrong one. Having people drive all that way for nothing would be depressing. Anyone else want to decide?
I suck at organizing these things.
If people are serious about this, I guess we should list weekends that people would have available, decide who wants in, etc. Like I said, I suck at organizing this stuff. Just because the idea was my suggestion doesn't mean that I would be offended if someone else took charge of the details. Or it could be a group effort. Is anyone still interested? Or have I put things off too long? I'm not even sure we actually decided on the "where," though Mammoth Cave was looking like a popular choice. One thing that could add some flexibility to the weather issue could be to have alternate spots picked out.

Just posted this link in the Galley in Malik's beer thread. It's climate data for Denver.
www.crh.noaa.gov/bou/include/showProduc ... entdir=cli
Basically, Denver is semi-arid. Their rainiest June was in 1882, when 4.96 inches of rain fell for the whole month. The average for the month is less than 2 inches. So I'm not too worried about us getting rained out.
If we were camping in the higher elevations, I'd be concerned about afternoon thundershowers. But where we'll be? I'm more concerned about packing enough sunscreen....

May I recommend a get-together sometime this year in Portland, OR?
We've got one of the largest book-stores in the world (Powell's), a slew of local breweries, a great indie music scene, more strip clubs per capita than any other city in the US and, of course, me
It'd be nice to finally put a face to all the names here.

Give me a break, Your Helpfulness. Farsailer responded a week-and-a-half ago and you did not find it necessary to point out the delay.
Even balon! (whom we have both met) is onboard for this. If Rigel no longer is up to have a fest in Portland, let us have one in Seattle...anytime Watchers care to come here!

For whatever reason, my orange dot tree never showed me Farsailer's post, or he would have gotten the same response from me, more than likely.
Works for me, if I'm out that way at the time.Savor Dam wrote:Even balon! (whom we have both met) is onboard for this. If Rigel no longer is up to have a fest in Portland, let us have one in Seattle...anytime Watchers care to come here!

Actually, I meant sometime this year... I had to hop through a ceasure to make that post, which is why it shows up with such an old dateMenolly wrote:Uhm...sometime last year?Savor Dam wrote:Definitely. When did you have in mind, Rigel?Rigel wrote:Posted: Sun Jan 31, 2010

I'll be here in PDX year round (except in June, I've got this little gig in NM I'm heading for), so anytime someone feels like stopping in they're free to do so. Of course, if a number of people have vacation around the same time, we could work out something larger. To spread out the festivities, probably sometime around the end of summer (August or September, maybe?).
