I actually just listened to 9 Princes of Amber myself on the Audiobook, I got for Christmas. A friend from several different boards recommended the Amber Series to me years ago, and I never got around to reading it.

I quite enjoyed the first book, and am currently listening to the second one (Guns of Avalon) (just started lsitening to it this morning)

I really liked Amber. I'll reread again some day, when I have time. Prince of Nothing should come before another reread, but I'm going through Malazan again before I do anything else.

Thanks for the rec, but my problem is obtaining ANYTHING at all in English. I have stuff to read thanks to my e-book. Ordering, paying for and delivery from overseas are all problems. I still don't have the latest Covenant book. As is, I have to make a big holler and fuss for someone over there to buy something, get someone who's traveling to bring it over...

There's a very good used bookstore near me. Paperbacks are $.50 and hc are $1. I can keep an eye out for you. I send books to folks all over when they tell me what they want. Haven't sent to Russia yet! I don't know if AATE is likely to be there yet, but I should check.

I've read a couple of the Amber books a long time (> 20y) ago, and I did enjoy them. But the Zelazny book that really caught me is Lord of Light. Absolutely love it, read it maybe 10 times or more. It does help if you like mythology, in this case Hindu mythology.
The book, allthough not really big (<300p) has a pretty complex structure, especially as far as chronology is concerned. You won't get everything the first read. At least I didn't.

I just found out when reading the Zelazny Wikipedia article that he has written a book involving Norse mythology as well: Mask of Loki.
Very interesting; I love Norse mythology. Anyone read this book?

I also just found out Zelazny passed away 15 years ago! Didn't know that at all...

Well, if you find a copy of AATE for a buck (ie, that doesn't scratch you financially) and are willing to send it el cheapo last class, I have no pride - I'll send you an address! Addresses in Moscow itself are fairly reliable. It's when you go out into the burbs and beyond that it gets iffy - although I DID get that study bible from Gould and Robinson...
