Sex, Lies, and the Old Testament

Post by rusmeister »

There have been periodic threads by people who are surprised to find so much sex and viloence in the Old Testament.

For those seriously interested in how Christians can see intelligent explanation in this, and not rationalization, I offer the following excellent podcast series by Fr Thomas Hopko, ex-dean of a major theological seminary (and son-in-law of Alexander Schmemann, for those in the know).

Discussion after at least the first podcast would be interesting; before podcast will not be, as discussions that start without an attempt to grasp the Christian side are useless, so as the OP, I ask that people give Hopko a whirl before posting. I'd rather have a short thread that engages this stuff on a deeper level, than a long thread with people arguing back and forth without ever having listened to any intelligent Christian commentary. (Heck, I've only finished the first one myself)
