I'm back in Seattle, Fist. Moved back in November for school, or at least that's what people tell me. I still can't fathom why I would leave Hawaii. Apparently I hate being warm.
I'll see about carpool, Danlo. The only thing is I don't want to be gone from home for TOO long. With just my boyfriend watching the pup, she'll be home alone up to about 10 hours a day. Also I'm not sure if the dates conflict with school since I'll be attending summer quarter... but I'll definitely look into it!

I sure got a surprise phone call this morning! Steve called to reconfirm everything and says he's really looking forward to E-fest 3. He has been warned that a fairly big crowd is coming. He wants us to chose the restaurant as he said, "I don't know, I'm a very private person and don't get out much". I'll start researching that soon, and we've got some surprises in store.

uuuhhhmm..I don't envy you danlo ,,with your self assigned task of choosing a suitable restaurant in the Duke...or even nearby.Nope, not one bit,, I mean..there is a respect for SRD,,a respect for the fans along with the want to show off abit of ABQ....A quick review of numerous Best ABQ Restaurants blogs and sites..seems to me to reinforce the near impossibility of your task. I mean..ABQ isn't quite known for its food like N.O. or SF or NYC are..Then, like one blogger puts it.." there is no fine dining in ABQ.." Geesh..well,,as you put it yourself danlo..you'll have to research . Nothing comes to the surface on its own? ..ouch!danlo wrote:I sure got a surprise phone call this morning! Hey, heres my point..don't worry about it. If there are 20 plus of us..finding any place that can handle us all at one time,,will be challenge enough. I'm sure there are many considerations,,but thats the point..don't let all the considerations bog you down and increase the difficulty factor...If all else fails,,theres always McD's.

As long as they can host a party our size, I honestly don't care about the food. So don't stress yourself too much about it

As much as you may kid,,Waddley,,there is a good idea at the core..Once researched and decided upon by gracious host and volunteer, danlo,,if we could pre choose our menu selection and therefore danlo be able to notify restaurant at time of reservation or at least before the 11th....just mite make things easier for all involved,,especially any requiring special needs in culinary consumption...Perhaps by respecting the restaurants situation,,we as a group may get a respect in return. Waiting 5 extra minutes for a ketchup only cheese burger can be avoided with a little care.Waddley Hasselhoff wrote:I just have one tiny request- would you make sure they have at least one vegan dish on the menu? Thanks.

Well, I'd like to think I'm getting better at picking restaurants as E-Fests go on-Albuquerque is well know for great New Mexican food featuring hot red and green chili. We went to Gardunos for the first one and the Margaritas were awesome but the Mariachi's and traffic noise during the interview left something to be desired. The Cooperage had a great stage and a wicked salad bar-I'm tempted to fall back on that if all else fails.
After SRD's cryptic comment on the phone about having, "particular tastes" I think I should research his eating habits--one of two Watchers can help me out on that, hopefully, so I'll PM them next week-I never noticed what SRD likes and doesn't like at both dinners. Indian food? LOL-I love curry and Chutney...

Just to confirm...I will be attending, as will Menolly. Travel (from upper left and lower right corners of the continental US) was booked today. Looking forward to meeting all.
(Wadds and balon: sorry, but carpooling just wouldn't work. That's a really long drive, and the lodging along the way would cost more than the airfare. Southwest, Frontier, and others have some pretty attractive fares. Jump on it and come join us at Elohimfest!)

Well, fudge monkeys.Seareach wrote:Regrettably, I won't be able to take you guys up on your offer to help me come over for the Fest. But thanks for *so* much for suggesting it, Jenn, and everyone else who said they'd contribute. And thanks to Danlo as well.
But, yeah: well, life's like that (unfortunately).

Feeling your pain, Sea. Don't even know why I'm following this thread. Probably the same reason I can spend hours browsing video games I can't afford, but really really want!

Or why I drool over fresh fish at the market I can't afford! (I could probably eat them before anyone noticed they were missing)Cambo wrote:Feeling your pain, Sea. Oh and Danlo, don't over think the whole restaurant thing. Just somewhere nice without anything too bizarre on the menu.
