A chance comment by a watcher in another thread recently made me think
about this. Are Infelice and Findail the represtentation of Linden's and
Thomas shadow? Amoral power and extreme passivity.

Hmmmm. A shadow is in effect a mirror image which is both opposit and not opposit. (opposit in terms of left and right - but not in terms of up and down.)
Infelice is Arogant Power; Linden is Self-Loathing Power.
That works.
Findail is Reluctant Obligation; TC is Enthusiastic Obligation (at least in the second trilogy).
This works too.
In the limited (ie two-word) charachter summations I have proposed above (incidently if I have not done it well that's because it is difficult - give it a try if you don't believe me) I think this idea works. The question must be then whether this was SRD's intent or is it an 'artifact' of the writing process (if this is the correct word). The other thing of course is 'Have I deliberately chosen my words to fit the hypothesis before me. I certainly have not done this deliberately - and the summaries seem quite well fitted to me but it is a possibility...........

Considering that Donaldson views fantasy as externalized internal conflict, it's very possible that this was on purpose. Another example would be to view the Bloodguard as Covenant's devotion to the laws of leprosy. (The laws themselves being represented by the "Earth Laws", the breaking of which leads to a person rotting alive).
Another observation: Findail became part of the Staff at the end of WGW while Covenant became part of the Arch, which might help support at least half of the theory.
