The Destroyer was revived in the '70's. "Fighter of Dictators", eh? Jim Starlin cleverly brought him back to fight Thanos, the ultimate dictator.

I don't know which one of those guys is the Destroyer, null. At least the 70's version had the skull on his chest and the same face:

I have that issue of Captain Marvel, along with just about all the others. Pretty sure that's a Broderick issue. He really did some great work with cosmic-type battles. (Micronauts, Firestorm, etc) Good resemblance between the two Destroyers, but, even though I've never heard of the one in null's post, Drax couldn't possibly be the same guy simply brought back. I guess they just had the rights to the name, and used it again with a similar look? Drax was freakin' awesome!

Yeah, Broderick did issues 55-62. He also lives down the street from me, though I've only met him once at a comic convention decades ago.

Too cool! I'd definitely knock on his door and ask him to sign that issue, and his Marvel Premier with Iron Fist. He drew good martial arts.

Yeah he did. I guess I'm just not that kind of guy. Pat's nephew worked at the local guitar/comic store for several years, and I was good friends with the 2nd husband of Pat's first wife, said 2nd husband showing me several pieces of Pat's early comic art. Mark even gave me a few pieces, which I didn't hang onto, unfortunately. The time I met Pat he seemed nice enough, but he also seemed like a private guy.

Bob Layton, OTOH, came off as a complete fruitcake; clearly angry over the direction Marvel took with Iron Man years after Bob left the strip.

I've met others, but the only other one I remember meeting was Kevin Maguire, and he was a really nice guy.
