how could no one at Marvel realize what a bad idea this was?

I can only hope that some day we get a Giant-Size Man-Thing vs the Bi-Beast comic series.

I have all five Giant Size Man-Things. 4 and 5 have Howard the Duck backup stories, which are better than anything in your stupid collection. I believe that issue you've singled out is the 1st appearance of Man-thing, making it worth more that anything in your stupid collection.

I'm sure my copies of those books aren't, either. That Savage Tales is worth more than $100 all by itself.
