I had a Trash-80. "I speak Basic, do you?" Ah, good times, good times...

I had the TRS-80 Color Computer first. Fun computer, but limited - the disk drive system cost several times what the actual computer cost, so I never got one.
Later I got a Commodore Amiga. Now *that* was a computer before its time. I would still love to see a modern operating system that was more "Amiga-like" (although I'm not even sure what that means anymore... you can tweak most OSes these days to be what you want.)
I currently still use a TRS-80 Model 100, which still has a thriving, but small, user base. Even new hardware!
At first glance, this looks like just a specialized case... but the Commodore OS 1.0 looks interesting. [/url]

Whoa - *I* had a C64 and then moved onto an Amiga. Anyone remember a software house called Epyx? Impossible Mission on the C64... "Aaaaah, another visitor. Stay awhile... staaaay foreverrrrrrr!" What a brilliant game.
Being a dyed-in-the-wool Commodore fan, I utterly spurned all things ZX Spectrum and Atari related. Ironically though, I also worked for near on a decade for the company that bought Sinclair - but I was running the PC side of things, not the home computer stuff. (Though I was involved in the bid we made in tandem with Phillips for Commodore near the end of their days - but it got refused. Oh well).

Newsflash: the word "irony" doesn't mean "a bit like iron"
Shockingly, some people have claimed that I'm egocentric... but hey, enough about them

Crappy crappy crap crap. I just got rid of my old C64, as well as all of the software. I knew I'd regret it. Oh well, I guess I do still have the emulator with a lot of the games, so I guess I shouldn't complain too much. I couldn't tell if this thing ran the old disks though. Probably not, is my guess.

Haha I think Gen Y has missed out on so much - the greatest things to ever exist are from my generationAuleliel wrote:That's a pretty sweet computer, Vain. I'm a little bit to *cough*young*cough* to have used a Commodore myself, but I can see the appeal.

I don't think it runs the old disks but it does have a built in emulator so you can play the old games. I spent WAY too much time playing C64 games on a friends one and it was always cool that it had disks. My ZX81 had a 16k Ram pack and needed games to be loaded via cassette !!Cag wrote:Crappy crappy crap crap. I just got rid of my old C64, as well as all of the software. I knew I'd regret it. Well, it's probably for the best. I don't have the time I had in the olden days, back with C64 was king. I don't even have time for the new games. But I suspect some of the older stuff would still be fun to play. I thought about holding on to it for the sake of my kid, but he's only going to want to play the new stuff - not the old stuff that tends to be more fun. But then again, I guess that is what the emulators are for.Vain wrote: I don't think it runs the old disks but it does have a built in emulator so you can play the old games.
