[ooc]I'm assuming my +14 in Knowledge (the planes) would let me know enough to justify my coming statement.[/ooc]
"Glabrezu are very good liers, yes. More than good enough to trick me, I'm sure. However, one of my powers makes me supernaturally good at lying, good enough to fool them. We can each fool the other, but as a Warlock, I can claim to have a right to get us past it, and then there won't be any problem.
"If I claim to be leading a party in search of the invaders, but taking precautions around guards who might mistake us for them, we should be fine."
[ooc]Glabrezu have +22 Bluff, and +18 Sense Motive. My Sense Motive is only 12, so it could easily Bluff me, but my Bluff is also +22. Vyn can bluff them, though with difficulty.[/ooc]

[Bluff only works if the target doesn't know something is patently false. We've been scryed on previously, we have all of one dark elf in the party, one elf, one half-elf, a bunch of humans, and a Wemic. I really don't think you can bluff it in this case. I might be able to bluff it to get myself (and maybe one person) past, but that's it at best.]
Anna makes sure her equipment is ready and casts Animalistic Power on herself. She wants to have it ready in case the Bluff fails.

The bard listens to both Marrik and Kalindriel, seeing the wisdom in both approaches. But having nearly exhausted all of her resources the day before, and seeing the determination to attempt the bluff in the warlock's visage, Laurel chooses to agree with Marrik and avoid what fights they may.
Drawing near to Vynarkus, Laurel breaks in to song, suggesting he takes the words she sings to heart...
The magic of believing is this: if we really believe in ourselves,
our heart will take us to the highest plateau of personal success.
Nothing will stop us as long as we have faith in our hearts.
It’s been a long road - Getting from there to here.
It’s been a long time, but my time is finally near.
And I can feel the change in the wind right now
Nothing’s in my way
And they’re not gonna hold me down no more
No, they’re not gonna hold me now
Cause I got faith of the heart
I’m going where my heart will take me
I got faith to believe. I can do anything.
I got strength of the soul
And no one’s gonna bend or break me
I can reach any star. I got faith. Faith of the heart.
It’s been a long night, trying to find my way.
Been through the darkness now I finally have my day.
And I will see my dream come alive at last
I will touch the sky
And they’re not gonna hold me down no more
No, they’re not gonna change my mind
Cause I got faith of the heart
I’m going where my heart will take me
I got faith to believe. I can do anything.
I got strength of the soul
And no one’s gonna bend or break me
I can reach any star. I got faith. Faith of the heart.
I’ve known a wind so cold. I’ve seen the darkest days.
But now the winds I feel are only winds of change.
I’ve been through the fire and I’ve been through the rain.
But I’ll be fine
Cause I got faith of the heart
I’m going where my heart will take me
I got faith to believe. I can do anything.
I got strength of the soul
And no one’s gonna bend or break me
I can reach any star. I got faith. Faith of the heart.
‘Cause I got faith of the heart
I’m going’ where my heart will take me
I got faith to believe
And no one’s gonna bend or break me
I can reach any star. I got faith - faith of the heart.
It’s been a long road
Then she smiles and whispers, "Good luck. We all believe in you."

Led suddenly frowns in annoyance. "Of course." he whispers.
"Marrik, you can fight on horseback. Can you ride a cat down a hallway to charge a fiend? I know my way around falling off a horse, I can try to compensate if you start to slide off without a saddle."
"I hope Darethon doesn't have a problem with the fact that I just seriously considered having a saddle made for myself. There's just too much benefit to having a second fighter along for the ride."
EDIT: "Here, climb on. If Vynarkus fails, we'll need to get in there to help him."

Geek the mage, first.
There's nothing I can do to help. So I'll just stay back here.
"Good luck."

Vynarkus waits until he is certain that the Glabrezu is out of earshot.
"No, Katrina, it isn't going to warn the Bad Man. But we may want to kill it anyway.
"Apparently, a group of demons have opened a hole in the wards around the building as bait for the elves outside. There is going to be another Glabrezu, a few Vrocks, and all the Dretches they can get. This could be problematic for the elves, and dangerous for us if we decide to go interfere, but we might want to try and do that after Dealing with Trina's Bad Man. Or we might want to go do that now. I'm not really sure which is a better choice.
"...Before we decide on that, I want to try something..."
Vynarkus gets a look of concentration on his face and points down the hall, away from anything alive or undead.
[ooc]Spellblast Spear, with an imbued Vitrolic Cone.
Fail. Cannot sue Spellblast to apply an area-effect Blast Shape to an already shaped blast[/ooc]

[ooc]Looking at it now, I see a slight problem in my assumptions. I looked at Katrina's post, realised that what she was saying would cause the Glabrezu to attack us if it was still there, and assumed it was already gone, because otherwise it would realise from Katrina's comment that we weren't who we claimed to be.
I specifically removed my initial sentence "waiting until the Glabrezu was out of earshot before explaining", due to that assumption. I know that if it heard what I was saying to everyone, it would attack.
So, this is something of a problem. I figured it was already gone, or I would not have done my experiment. Which I still need to argue about...[/ooc]
DM response....you said out of EARSHOT....not "gone away"...it did NOT hear anything you said to the rest of the party, it DID hear you blasting.

Setting her song of Competence to linger for a moment and then looking at the warlock in shock at his decision to blast away, even in to an empty area, after just talking our way out of a fight, the bard asks , "What was that for?"
Lowering her voice to a bare whispers, she continues, "If you think you can bluff your way out of this one, go ahead," as she then picks up the lingering song and continues to Inspire Competence upon Vynarkus.

[ooc]Well, I guess I'll just respond as though I really did make this mistake.[/ooc]
"Darn it, I really thought I'd worked out how to do that..."
Notices the Glabrezus. "What are you still doing here!?! You have already annoyed me to the point of needing to attack something other than you by forcing me to explain myself, now leave before you push me too far!"
[ooc]Bluff, maybe Intimidate (though I doubt I'd succeed on the Intimidate check...), taking into account that most Warlocks are Chaotic Evil, and very likely to want to kill inferiors who question them in any way...[/ooc]
