Great photos! Keep 'em coming!
And someone had taken a photo of Lord Zombiac and SRD when it was time to ask questions at the dinner. I tried to take a couple of photos of them, but our camera's battery was pretty drained and the photos aren't clear. I wish I could remember who it was who took it. Maybe you could send it to me?

Seriously, this is the reason I've been to the Fests and gatherings I've been to. We could sit in the house and order pizza all week. Nothing like a dozen or so of us watching The Holy Grail together!! Or just a few hanging out at a bookstore, or talking at a restaurant.Waddley Gaga wrote:Of course while The Dinner is always the focus of the event, I'd still come if all we did was hang out in Tom and Leslie's yard for a weekend.

Indeed. Meeting the Watchers was the highlight. It was great to see SRD up close and personal, but it was a relatively brief part of the experience for me.Fist and Faith wrote:Seriously, this is the reason I've been to the Fests and gatherings I've been to. Great pics everyone. Absolutely love your scenic shots Jonnyredleader and, Lurch, your pics are brilliant as always! Particularly the one with the painting in the background. Brilliant! [And Varderman looks like he's asleep!]

I never knew that not one, but two folks were filming the balloon incident...
The Fest hasn't quite ended for me yet, bumming around with Lore and Grace. Today we went to my local coffee shop to hang, an Indian restaurant for lunch and spent the afternoon at the Nuclear History Museum-fascinating in a morbid sort of way with models of reactors on one side and replicas of WMDs on the other. The nuclear medicine exhibits were very interesting, however. Outside were larger WMDs including an entire B-52, a replica of the Enola Gay. Exocet like missiles, missiles of every kind, the conning tower of one of the first nuclear subs, an atomic cannon and two three story tall rockets.
Tomorrow we're all going to the Aquarium and Bio Park in the morning and watching Thor in the afternoon. Out for now.

Unfortunately we didn't get one at the dinner because there were some issues with the venue and it was not conducive in any way to a group pic. We have officially decided to ban the Cooperage from hosting any further group fests.
Ok so, the barbecue. It was wonderful. We added a whole new dimension to the fest with the arrival of Aliantha, Waddley, Lord Zombiac, Phyllis, Cagliostro, Bossk, Sgt. Null, Julie and Rigel. I called several watchers to find out arrival times and as Sgt. Null got close he had to get directions from Danlo several times and it wasn't until Julie got the directions that they found the place. I love you Null but you know it's true. I think I captured just how I felt when I took the picture of Waddley and Lucimay seeing each other again. Lucimay's expression says it all. It's so damn awesome you are reduced to tears. They hugged for about five minutes. Anyway. Great bonding happened all around and great moments of humor. I understand not talking to people enough. I got so caught up in moments that I feel like I neglected to spend the time I intended to with others. It's just so easy to get pulled in so many directions and conversations. Some fave moments of conversations:
Me: Sarge, how did you ever get Julie?
Sarge: I got her drunk and kept her drunk for two years and after that it was too late.
Me: hysterical laughter
Me later: "Julie, I asked Sarge about how he married you and he said he got you drunk and kept you drunk for two years until it was too late."
Julie: "Hee heee, I'm not surprised he said that."
When you guys meet Julie and Null, it's an amazing look at love, just as Danlo and Lady Tam are. A perfect fit. Julie looks so sweet and docile but she's a firecracker of snappy comebacks and fiesty personality which is so perfect for Null's quirky humor.
Lore and I were in a conversation about bees and Lore was going off about how it would be great if we could make our own honey and Jonnyredleader pipes in about not wanting to make his own honey and Lore quips, "I wouldn't eat your honey anyway." Many jokes ensued about man honey....
Why so serious Loremaster?
There are so many other things I am going to write about but now it's picture time....

Can you guys all see the creepy haze of Kevin's Dirt, also known as the ash from the Arizona wildfires? It's pretty intense. When we got out of the SRD dinner, Bossk asked me what that smell was and I told him the ash and he was mortified.... sadly he had been breathing it for a day or so. It seems to settle in worse at night like the SF fog belt.
