Beverages

Post by Reisheiruhime »

Strawberry Fizz

*Makes 4 servings

1 can (5 fluid ounces) Pet Evaporated Milk or Pet Light Evaporated Skimmed Milk
2/3 cup lemon-lime or orange soda, regular or diet
1 1/2 cups fresh or frozen strawberries
4 tsps. sugar or 1 tsp. artifical sweetener

Combine all ingredients in blender until smooth.Serve immediately.

Note: Frozen fruit makes this beverage icy cold; if using fresh fruit, I suggest serving over crushed ice.

Here's another.

Easy Chocolate Pudding Milk Shake
*Makes 5 servings

3 cups cold skim milk
1 pakage (4 serving size) Jello Chocolate Pudding and Pie Filling
1 1/2 cups vanilla ice milk

Pour milk into blender container. Add remaining ingredients; cover and take cover. Blend at high speed for 15 seconds or until smooth. Serve at once.

Note: For double chocolate impact, use chocolate ice milk instead of vanilla ice milk.

Drank rather a lot of this last night with my friend
100ml Vodka
Splash of Lime cordial
390ml Deep springs mineral water - I had Melon and Mandarin (tastes likemidooori), my friend had Crushed Berries (aliantha I presume?)

Mixed in a questoinable vessel of hers I could only describe as a VAT.

Melys llymaid!! Hwyl!

Speaking of Midori, Phoebe, here are two of my favourite midori cocktails

Midori Illusion

30 ml Midori
15 ml Cointreau
15 ml Vodka
45 ml lemon juice
15 ml lime
Shake with ice

...and...

Midori Splice

45 ml Midori
30 ml Coconut Rum
120 ml Pineapple Juice
15 ml cream
Build over ice in a tall glass

They're oldies but goodies....But I can only handle one..of each

Presumably, everybody's thought of recipes for aliantha, but I came up with this:

Freeze fresh lime juice and then crush with a little salt until it's a slushy consistency - you want to be able to just taste the salt in the finished product.
2 parts Archer's Peach schnapps
1 part Bacardi

Try to resist throwing the glass over your shoulder, as most publicans frown upon this.

And, my own recipe for Black Russians:

1 part Kahlua
1 part vodka
2 parts strong espresso, chilled
"But I don't want to go among mad people," Alice remarked.
"Oh, you can't help that," said the Cat: "we're all mad here. I'm mad. You're mad."
"How do you know I'm mad?" said Alice.
"You must be," said the Cat, "or you wouldn't have come here."

Endut!

Once upon a time last yearwe were sitting outside a Barcelona cafe and had this wonderful wonderful drink. However our Catalan friend didn't have the english to tell us what it was made from, but we sort of got the impression it was almonds. every now and again I try to remember what it was called, and sometimes i remember it was something like 'archata'.

But today I decided to really find out, because it was SO nice! And here it is, 'orxata de xufes' ( different from the american/mexican horchata apparently)

<-- not a fan of root beer. Unless it is fresh from a tapped barrel with Co2 freshly added as it is drawn.

A good birch beer is a gift of the g-ds though.

We used to buy root beer by the gallon at the local A&W. It's pretty awesome when it is freshly dispensed. Some root beers can be harsh and soapy tasting, so I wonder if Stone shouldn't try another brand?

Dad's root beer is the only root beer worth drinking, imho. And Vernor's is the only decent ginger ale.

This sounds good but where the heck do you find "vanilla ice milk"?

I think it's called "light" ice cream nowadays.
