Hee hee...believe it or not, Ussi [I don't think I said this already] when doing mine I came one click away from posting one for you in particular [though part of the joke I've used before for you, which is why I didn't do it] It said:

Thank you for the thanks, Vraith.

I am not sure how Ussussimiel is pronounced, but I had visions of taunting DPJ with an inverted (7-5-7) haiku.

Well, I have another 500, so here goes.

This Week's Contest

Vagel's balls, this one is hard. It's a logic puzzle.

This puzzle is about five imagers: Barsonage, Quillon, Havelock, Eremis, and Gilbur.

Each imager has a mirror that shows a certain image. Each mirror was made with a certain color of tinct. Each mirror can translate a certain kind of item out of the image. (Important: there is not necessarilly a relation between the image and what is translated.)

And finally, each imager has a different desire.

To enter this contest, read the clues below, and for each of the five imagers, tell me (a) his mirror's image, (b) the tinct that made his mirror, (c) what he translates out of his mirror, and (d) his desire.

The first entry posted with the correct answer wins. Otherwise, the winner is the entry that is most correct (out of 20).

I will not reveal the winner until all entries are in. If someone posts an answer, do not assume it is correct. Your entry may be more correct. And, even if your answer is the same as someone elses', post it anyway, because you did all the work, you might as well show us you tried.

One final pre-answered question: the only information you need other than the clues listed below is a basic knowledge of which imagers are good guys, and which are bad.

HERE ARE THE CLUES:
  • The purple tinct was used to make the mirror of the good imager who desires wine.

The image of the dungeons of Orison were very useful to the imager who desired a woman.

An evil imager who desired Terisa had a mirror which showed a moonscape.

A good imager summoned a warrior from the image of an ocean seen in a mirror made with blue tinct.

Slug slime from what the bad imager translated dripped all over the his mirror, which was made from red tinct.

    Only bad imagers desire women.

Barsonage asked Quillon if he thought that he could borrow the mirror made of yellow tinct while its owner was chasing after Terisa, in order to compare its image to the image of a cavern in Barsonage's.

The good imager who desires peace has a mirror made with pink tinct.

When Quillon tried to translate a warrior from the mountainside in his mirror, he got wolves instead.

The mirror of the imager who wanted to be king did not show a mountainside.

When Havelock was translated, he had no slug slime on him.

The imager whose summoned a giant slug from the dungeons of orison desired a woman.

Gilbur often thought of Saddith, whom he desired, as he viewed the dungeons of Orison in his mirror.

The good imager who wanted to be king liked to watch the ocean in his mirror.

The image of the cavern contained supplies which were translated out as needed.

    Quillon doesn't like wine.

Heh...I always start out excited with these puzzles, then surrender and just guesstimate. So here's my answer:
Spoiler
Barsonage has an Image of a cavern from Purple tinct that translates supplies and he wants wine.
Quillon has an image of a mountainside from Pink tinct that translates
wolves and wants peace.
Havelock has an image of ocean from blue tinct that translates warrior and wants to be king.
Eremis has an image of moonscape from yellow tinct that translates Havelock and wants Terisa
Gilbur has an image of Orison dungeons from red tinct that translates slugs and wants Saddith.

Perhaps you are right, U (or should I say U is right?), but Vraith arrived at the answer to this week's WWM before I did.

Only Wayfriend can officially pronounce his answer correct, but it matches mine...and while he claims to have "guesstimated", I worked the puzzle out using the Holmesian dictum "Once you eliminate the impossible, whatever remains, no matter how improbable, must be the truth." When I came back here to post (quite full of myself  ), I found he had posted first...and when I looked under the spoiler tags, his answer matched what I had deduced.

Premature though it may be, congratulations to Vraith for such a quick solution!

Ussi's just commenting on his perception that anything I say is, by definition, NOT FUNNY [and also that he himself is] whether it involves WF's contests or anything else.
You, therefore, are qualified to teach me funniness.
He and I are just the Comic Watch Middle-east. The rest of you should just resign yourselves to the fact we'll never stop shooting at each other.

SD, do these come to you right away, all at once, or do they form?

Not insulting, I'm laughing myself silly right now, actually. I just wonder about the way different people's minds operate, different folks access their brain files differently, just like any Code writer's individuality in the way his Code approaches the need it's being written for

Honestly, sind, puns are probably my first language. Back when Carter was President and I was at Uni, a professor responded to my raised hand "You may speak, but you may not pun." It's just how my mind works...

*ahem*

Getting back to the subject...Magickmaker and I agree with Vraith (and, by extension, the punny guy ;) ).

(When the ex and I were first married, his brother stayed with us for a few days. Apparently he later complained to my ex-mother-in-law, "They even pun at breakfast!" )
